Co-curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3
The saying goes, “Time flies when you’re having fun”, so we must be having a great time as it is already Week 3 and it seems like only yesterday that we started. Before you know it, Summer sport will have come to an end and Christmas will be fast approaching.
Last week, Malietau Davis of Year 5 competed in the NSWPSSA Athletics Carnival. Malietau was competing in both the 11Years Shot Put and Discus. On a beautiful clear day, with little breeze, the conditions were good for throwing. Against some very strong opposition (tall as well) Malietau competed very well and was competitive all the way through. At the conclusion of both events, Malietau finished fifth in Discus and fourth in Shot Put. On both occasions, throwing personal bests (PBS) on 32.2m and 11.89m respectively. I know you will all join me in congratulating Malietau on his outstanding performances.
Next Monday 4 November all staff will be involved in professional development after school. This will result in a number of teams having their training cancelled on this day.
Teams affected are:
- 5B Cricket
- 5C1 Cricket
- Prep A Softball
- Prep B Touch Football
All other teams will train as per the schedule on Monday 4 November.
A reminder of upcoming key dates:
- 15 November – Annual Junior School House Swimming Carnival (Birrong Leisure and Aquatic Centre)
- 23 November – Last round of Summer sport
- 29 November – Junior School Co-Curricular Presentation Evening (College Gym, 3:30 PM start)
For the House Swimming Carnival all boys are expected to participate in the 50m Freestyle and Breaststroke races for their age groups. Boys that are swimming in squads outside the College or who have participated in the College Swimming Squad this year would be expected to sign up for championship events. Sign-ups for championship events will be available soon. Boys will be informed through the daily announcements.
Good luck to all our teams playing this weekend.
