Co-curricular
2025 Co-Curricular Selections
Hugh Jackman began his journey in singing and acting at a young age, gaining attention during high school through school productions. He later studied communications and drama at UTS, developing his talents into the Hollywood star we know today.
Becoming an Olympian also requires years of dedication. Athletes typically start their sport around age 11 and begin dreaming of becoming an Olympian by age 14. By 17, many are taking steps toward that goal, with the average age of first Olympic selection being age 25. Interestingly, Mr. Jeffrey, our Year 5 teacher, was also 25 years old when he represented Australia at the 2012 London Olympics, the same age Hugh Jackman was when his performance career took off.
Mr Jeffery and many other Olympians participated in multiple sports during high school, which they credit as a key factor in their success. Hugh Jackman played rugby, cricket, and swam at Knox Grammar School while starring in the school musical My Fair Lady.
This emphasises the importance of co-curricular programs in schools. They offer opportunities to learn new skills, make friends, and create lasting memories. As I said to the senior boys at assembly last Friday – You might find that, at 25, you look back on these experiences and see their significant impact on your own career.
A reminder from my article last week. Please ensure you discuss with your son’s their 2025 Co-curricular selection. An email with detailed information was sent home last Thursday to all families.
- Deadline for selections: 5:00 PM on Friday, 1 November 2024.
- Where to register: TASS Parent Lounge, please ensure you finalise your selections by clicking the green "Submit to School" button.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via College Reception on 9763 1000.
Remember: “In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take.” Embrace this opportunity for your child to get involved and create lasting memories!
Thank you!

Theatre Club 2025 – Expressions of Interest
We are currently in the process of organising SPC Theatre Club for 2025.
For those who don’t know what Theatre Club is… it is an initiative that has grown over the last seven years to increase the exposure we all have to theatre.
The idea behind this initiative has always been to broaden the experiences all of our students and College community have with the theatre, to start a dialogue about the shows we have seen and to create a space where we can all enjoy theatre purely for the entertainment… not a single essay in sight!
Theatre Club is open to staff, students, parents and the wider SPC community. You are welcome to bring your friends, family and kids or just come on your own if your son isn’t interested in a play. Parents can also book for their son to attend a show without them.
This is an invite not an excursion. We purchase tickets in bulk to theatre shows around Sydney meaning we are able to get the tickets at a discounted price.
To help with planning, if you are interested in joining Theatre Club, please fill out the form via this link and you will be contacted before the end of the year once we have our theatre program in place.
Questions can be emailed to rebecca.duff@spc.nsw.edu.au.
