Students at WHC are encouraged to ‘Call Out’ poor behaviours they may be exposed to, witness, or hear of in our community.

 

If you hear something that is not right, or feel uncomfortable in our community, we want to hear from you!

 

Students are encouraged to email their Year Level address, where concerns will be resolved.


Region Athletics Carnival 2024

On Wednesday 9th October, 18 students represented the school in the Regional Athletics Championships at Moonee Valley Athletics Track. All athletes performed extremely well showing great determination and resilience. Some stand out performances included:

A big congratulations to Charlie, Jackson and Kiara for their efforts in moving onto the State Championships on Monday 21st October!


WFNL

Congratulations to WHC staff member Leanne (Head Coach) and Year 9 student Taya (player) who were selected to represent the WFNL in the U15 AFL Vic Metro Junior Development Series.  Making history for the WFNL competition, winning 2 out of the 3 games in Division 1.  Well done ladies!


Canteen Orders

A reminder that the Canteen is ORDER ONLY for all main food items, such as salad rolls, sausage rolls, schnitzel burgers etc. The first 10 minutes of recess and lunch will be allocated to collection of food orders only. The canteen will then be open for any additional purchases of drinks and ice creams (Term 1 & 4).

BOOK MARKS - LIBRARY KEY DATES

 

Monday 18 November - return ALL WHC library books for annual audit.

If you have any WHC library books in your locker, at home or on your desk (including teachers and support staff!), please return these by Monday 18 November. The library needs to have every book back for an audit.

 

New books!

New graphic novels include Avatar The Last Airbender series, The Amulet series, Heartstopper LGBTQI series, Percy Jackson, The 39 Clues (books 1 and 2), Click, Camp volumes, Lightfall series, Five Nights at Freddy's, My Aunt is a Monster, Nimona, even 'Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me', plus many more will be ready to be borrowed next week.

 

We also have new sport books:

The Boomers, Le Bron, Steven Curry, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, NBA Scrapbook, NBA Legends, Brad Hodge, The Immortals of Football and Rugby Union, Tom Hawkins, Eddie Betts Football and Sports, Fishing Encyclopaedias, Skateboarding, Cathy Freeman, MacKenzie Arnold, and Max Verstappen.

 

There are also First Nation titles:

The Wonder of Little Things (Vince Copley), Father of the Lost Boys (Yuot A. Alaak), Tell Me Why (Archie Roach), and The Koorie Warrior (series of 3).

 

New fiction books include:

New David Walliams (The Blunders and Super Sleuth), Alice Oseman (Loveless, Solitaire, I Was Born For This), Katherine Rundell (The Explorer, Rooftoppers, Impossible Creatures). New Copies of the Divergent Collection, The Hunger Games series, Harry Potter series, The Fault In Our Stars and Black Cockatoo have also been purchased for you to read.

 

Lastly, new quick card games are ready to be played at lunch; challenge your friends to a game of No Mercy Uno! And of course you can play chess and Connect Four in the library.

VIC State Library Excursion


Borrowing books – Books are loaned for two weeks. use your WHC ID card to borrow books from our school library. You can easily find what you want on shelves as fiction titles have been organised into genres:

  • Chess Club – Tuesday lunch times with Mr. Gray and teachers. Can you beat your teacher? The challenge is on! Timers available. You can play at recess and lunch. All levels welcome.
  • Readers Raffle – If you have finished a novel besides your school novel, let the library staff know and we will put you in the draw for a small prize. The more novels you read, the more chances you have of winning a prize!
  • Geelong Library Membership – Join our public library to access all kinds of resources. You can reserve a book online, then collect it from our Library.
