Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

COTTAGE BY THE SEA

We have a group of 18 excited students and two teachers spending the week at the Cottage by the Sea in Queenscliff.

The students are enjoying fabulous activities such as surfing, body boarding, beach-combing and the hands-on aquarium.

The Cottage by the Sea is a not for profit organisation whose sole existence is to provide students from all over Victoria with fun-filled activities at one of Victoria’s most picturesque sites.

It is located right at the edge of Port Phillip heads and no large ship can enter or leave the port of Melbourne without passing by. It is quite spectacular.

The students develop their leadership skills and independence on this adventure and we are certainly indebted to the CBTS committee for making this available to us.

A big thank you to Jess Arnott for organising the camp and to Mr Kuj Williams and Ms Jane McMeel for attending the camp.

VALE COLIN MCKENNA

Along with many local organisations Warrnambool Primary School has been the recipient of many generous donations from the McKenna family.

They have never sought recognition with their aim to provide much needed resources and funds for our schools and many other organisations.

We sincerely appreciate their support and wish Colin’s wife Janice and the McKenna family all the very best.

AUBURN SOUTH PRIMARY SCHOOL TRAGEDY

We are all deeply saddened by the tragic event that occurred at Auburn South Primary School on Tuesday.

Our thoughts are with the impacted families, students, teachers and the school community.

We send our deepest support to the entire community during this very difficult time.

GOVEMBER 2024

GOvember has offically begun. This is an exciting and important time on the Warrnambool Primary Sschool calendar. GOvember is all about getting active while working together to achieve a goal. Our school target is a combined 14,000km and together we are certain we will get there.

FOUNDATION BREAKFAST

As part of the School Camp Program, the Foundation students came along to school on Thursday at an earlier time to enjoy breakfast with their classmates. This is an important step in the camp program as children will need the confidence, independence and manners required with eating in a formal environment.

The Foundation Breakfast was a fun and enjoyable experience for all students. Thank you to Ms Jacqui Matters and Mrs Julie Giblin for organising and for our Year 6 students who helped on the morning.

ADHD AWARENESS MONTH

October was ADHD Awareness Month!

To show our support and raise awareness we asked students to come to school on Wednesday and wear a touch of orange. Our students once again did'nt dissapoint in showing there support.

ADHD awareness month is a time to help raise awareness of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects 1 in 20 Australians.

The theme for 2024 is ‘Awareness is Key’. Raising awareness opens the door to so many possibilities to support those with ADHD in school, at work and in the community.

HEAD LICE

The school has had a number of head lice cases this Term. We ask for your assistance in checking your child's hair and if head lice is found to treat your child's hair. Many lice do not cause an itch, so you have to look carefully to find them. If you use a head lice solution please read the directions carefully and ensure follow up treatment is completed as directed. Please let the office know if you find lice, so we can keep track of any outbreak.

CLASS SEPARATIONS/ REQUESTS 2025

As we start creating classes for 2025 we invite you to submit the names of three students you believe your child would benefit from being in a class with in 2025.

Please email or write to your child’s teacher with your child’s three preferences by Tuesday 5th November 2024- please no later or it may not be accepted. Where no names are received your child’s teacher will make suitable selections on your behalf.
