Kinder Visit to Holy Cross
This Tuesday we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of excited kinder children from Goodstart Early Learning. Their visit was facilitated by our Outdoor Education teacher, Abby Fiddes, Literacy Leader Zoe Vandenhurk, Co-educator Leanne Wilson, and three of our Year 6 leaders. The children arrived full of energy, proudly wearing their bright hi-vis vests, and some of them enthusiastically chatted about their older siblings who are currently students at Holy Cross.
The session began with everyone gathering around our beautiful Yarning Circle, where the children sat together and listened as a picture book was read aloud. The story was about growing from a seed, setting the tone for the sessions’s nature-themed activities.
Next, the children went on an exploration of the Holy Cross Outdoor Education space. They had the opportunity to visit our chickens and sheep, followed by a hands-on session where they helped water the vegetable garden. In addition to this, each child planted their very own bean seed to take home—a small reminder of their visit to Holy Cross and a chance to watch their plants grow.
The Holy Cross team, including our Year 6 leaders, thoroughly enjoyed the visit. We hope to see some of their bright young faces again soon!
Prep/Year 1 Activity Afternoon and Dinner
What a fun-filled afternoon and evening our Prep and Year 1 children had! The afternoon began with a scavenger hunt where the children explored the outdoors searching for insects, animals, and other hidden treasures. Afterward, everyone enjoyed classic games like musical statues, duck-duck goose, and tunnel ball.
After their final game, the Prep children took a well-deserved rest and were treated to a delicious jelly cup. Meanwhile, the Year 1 children stayed a little longer to enjoy a dinner of chicken and salad rolls, followed by a zooper dooper for dessert.
A big thank you to Jodie, Alice, Aggie, Leanne, and Maryanne for organising such a wonderful evening and for preparing the activities and meals.
