Aoife's Message

Dear Families,

This newsletter must begin with an acknowledgement of the incredible work undertaken by the PFA in organising and running the Twilight Fair. Despite the best attempt of the weather to scupper our plans the team managed to forge ahead and welcome a large crowd to enjoy an evening of food, fun and festivities. It's a risky move to start thanking people by name as so many people lent a hand along the way. However, please know that the mammoth effort by parents to create this event is very much appreciated by me, the staff of Holy Cross and of course the children for whom we all gather together as a community. A profit of approximately $15,500 will be used to create an outdoor stage for the children to utilise for performances and dramatic play. The stage will not be constructed until the drainage / surfaces are repaired under the Victorian State Government Capital grant program. This will ensure the structural integrity and longevity of the stage.

Holy Cross Choir at the Sunbury Show

Congratulations to our magnificent School Choir who took out second place in the Choir competition at the Sunbury Show. This group gathers at lunch times, under the guidance of Lisa Peake to rehearse, they show a real commitment to each other and are to be commended on their teamwork.

Reminder: Upcoming School Closure Days

Friday 1st November

Monday 4th November

Prep and Year One Camp evening

Yesterday our junior children enjoyed staying back at school after everyone left for the day. They snacked on fresh fruit, played games and took part in a variety of fun activities. Our Prep children headed home first, with our Year One's staying on to share dinner together. Thank you to our awesome staff for planning and facilitating the evening!

Planning ahead for 2025

Our Leadership team will soon be meeting together to design our Annual Action Plan for 2025. We look at our current data, such as NAPLAN and the MACSSIS results (which are informed by staff, students and families). Following an analysis of the data we set our actions which are aligned with our school improvement plan. 2025 will be an exciting time for our school as we will be under review and will have ample time to reflect on our work and seek feedback and advice on the next stage of our overall school improvement plan.

Professional Development

Next Friday 1st Nov we are gathering as a staff to work with Wellbeing consultants from Catch and Echo. We will be discussing behaviour expectations and our whole school response to these as a staff to ensure there is consistency and a shared understanding of behaviour support processes for all children across our school.

World teachers day 2025

Thank to you our dedicated teachers at Holy Cross, we appreciate all that you do to support and guide the children in our care.

I strongly encourage all families to take some time to read through our Learning & Teaching page this week, Kate J has included some useful information about explicit instruction at Holy Cross.

Have a peaceful weekend,

Aoife

All students attending Holy Cross Primary School have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.
