Inclusion at APS

World Autism Awareness Day – Supporting Our Neurodiverse Community
On April 2, we recognise World Autism Awareness Day – a time to increase understanding, build awareness, and celebrate the strengths of our autistic community.
At our school, we are proud to support our autistic students by creating inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environments where every child can succeed. We understand that every student is unique, and we work closely with families and staff to provide personalised supports that meet individual needs.
Our approach includes:
- Building strong, trusting relationships with students
- Providing predictable routines and clear expectations
- Offering flexible learning options and adjustments
- Supporting communication and social development
- Creating calm, safe spaces for regulation and breaks
Promoting understanding and acceptance among peers
We are committed to fostering a culture where differences are respected and valued, and where all students feel a strong sense of belonging.
World Autism Awareness Day is an opportunity for our whole community to learn more, show support, and continue building an inclusive environment where every student is understood, supported, and celebrated.
True inclusion starts with listening to Autistic people. World Autism Understanding Month (April 2026) is a chance to reflect, learn, and take steps—big or small—towards a more understanding world. Check out resources and insights from the Autistic community at: aspect.org.au
