The beginning of Term 2 has been full of rich learning experiences across all curriculum areas. It has been fabulous seeing the students jump back into their routines to showcase their terrific learning abilities.
Literacy learning:
In Reading and Writing, students have been immersed in the world of poetry. They have explored a variety of poetic styles and techniques, including imagery, rhythm, rhyme and metaphor. Students have enjoyed analysing poems and creating their own imaginative pieces, using descriptive language to express emotions, ideas and experiences.
Students have also begun their novel study of The Elephant by Peter Carnavas. Throughout the study, they have been learning to analyse different features of the text and deepen their understanding of characters and themes. Students have explored figurative language within the novel, particularly similes and metaphors, and discussed how these language features help readers better understand emotions and meaning within the story.
Mathematics:
In Mathematics, students have been developing their multiplicative thinking skills. Through engaging tasks and problem-solving activities, they have gained a range of efficient strategies to support their understanding of multiplication and division. Students have worked hard to explain their thinking, make connections between concepts and apply strategies confidently in different contexts.
Discovery:
Our Discovery learning this term has focused on Sustainability. Students have explored ways we can care for our environment and make more sustainable choices in our everyday lives. They have investigated important topics such as reducing waste, recycling, protecting natural resources and the role individuals and communities play in creating a more sustainable future. They are excited to begin their projects very shortly.
Wellbeing:
Student wellbeing has also remained an important focus throughout the term. Students have participated in meaningful discussions and activities around screen time, kindness and empathy. They have reflected on the importance of healthy habits, respectful relationships and understanding the perspectives and feelings of others.
Lunch clubs:
Many of our Year 3/4 students have also shown wonderful initiative by organising and hosting lunchtime clubs for their peers. These clubs provide a fantastic opportunity for students to try new activities, connect with others and build new friendships in a welcoming and inclusive environment. We encourage students to get involved, have fun and enjoy meeting new people across the year level.
Here is a list of lunch clubs that are available:
