Term 2

Well, we certainly have had a very busy start to Term 2. We have had school photos, Mothers Day Stall, Year 2 sleepover, Preps first excursion to Bundoora Farm, interschool sports and that's just to name a few of the big events. There is so much more happening for your children at PVNPS. My staff are amazing and they are always wanting to provide as many varied experiences as possible - and I thank them for their enthusiasm and dedication to making sure everyday is a 'great day'.

I want to also mention here in this newsletter that we support all our teachers in determining the best possible adjustments, timetables or alternative work plans for our students when they require them. Dimi, Our Wellbeing Leader, works effortlessly to accommodate parents, students and teachers to best conditions within the classroom and at school.

However, it is important to remember that we are a school and we have the task of educating all students and ensuring they make added growth. Therefore, students must be in classrooms to learn.  Frankie, our Wellbeing Dog, has greatly assisted students to transfer from the playground to their classrooms. This resource has been an great addition to our school.

Working Bee-TBA

We are in need of a Working Bee at the school where we can get into the front playground garden and get some general weeding done and then we can do some further planting.

Stay tuned for this call out and then come along with some glvoes and a spade (we do have some junior gloves here at the school that the Climate crew purchased for the gardening team that we can use)

This will be held one afternoon after school, so when the date has been selected after School Council next monday, you can add it to your diary of events!

School Photos

I hope you have all had a look at this years school photos. we were once againlucky to have a lovely day for our group photo to be taken outdoors.

Thank you to my staff who make this event happen from timetabling, compass messages, liasons with the photo company to organsing our year 6 student runners for the day.

Naplan Data

We have some preliminary Naplan data that I have had the chance to review (better data to come later) but I am excited to see that we have a vast majority of students in the Strong to Exceeding category for all of the domains. There is only a handful or less in Needs Additional Support.

Ms McAlister has a 'Literacy Lift' Intervention Program that started this term which targets our students who require additional support. Mrs Josie Carmichael teaches this program and has been provided with student data to target specific areas for this intervention.
