Families and Communities are Informed and Involved
Creating a child-safe school is a shared responsibility. We value strong partnerships with families and the wider community to help ensure every child feels safe, supported and heard.
What we are already doing
We keep families informed and connected through:
- Regular communication via COMPASS and our school newsletter
- A clear Complaints Policy available on our website and COMPASS
- Parent feedback opportunities through surveys, School Council and conferences
- Community events such as Harmony Day, Eid celebrations, Book Week and Welcome Picnic events
- Prep Transition sessions and parent helper inductions focused on child safety
- Information sessions such as Cyber Safety evenings
- Inclusive practices that celebrate diversity and support student wellbeing
What we are continuing to strengthen
We are continuing to:
- Share child safety information in clear and accessible ways
- Increase opportunities for family voice and feedback
- Strengthen awareness around help-seeking and raising concerns
- Expand parent education opportunities around wellbeing and online safety
- Continue building an inclusive and welcoming school community

Equity and Diverse Needs
At PVNPS, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and respectful environment where every child feels valued and supported. Child Safe Standard 5 focuses on ensuring that all students, including those with diverse backgrounds and needs, feel safe, connected and able to participate fully in school life.
What we are already doing
We support student wellbeing and inclusion through:
- Our Child Safety, Inclusion and Wellbeing policies
- Respectful Relationships and The Resilience Project programs
- Student Support Groups (SSGs), Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and targeted wellbeing supports
- Gender Support Plans and attendance support plans where needed
- EAL support and differentiated learning opportunities
- Celebrating diversity through events such as Harmony Day, Easter Hat Parade, Eid celebrations and community events
- Providing support for families experiencing hardship, including uniforms, books and food assistance
- Ongoing staff professional learning in inclusion, wellbeing and supporting vulnerable students
We also ensure child safety information and support processes are accessible and easy to understand for all families.
What we are continuing to improve
We are continuing to strengthen our practices by:
- Improving support and tracking for vulnerable student groups
- Increasing staff training around inclusion and diverse needs
- Strengthening teacher handover processes for student wellbeing information
- Promoting interpreter support and accessible communication for families
- Continuing to build a respectful and inclusive school culture for all students
