MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATION
PARENT READING NIGHT
ATTENTION KINDERGARTEN PARENTS
(and any Year 1 and Year 2 Parents who have not yet attended a Parent Reading Night)
We invite you to attend our St Nicholas Parent Reading Night on Wednesday 13th May at 6pm in the Hub centre space. This is a valuable, practical evening where you will discover exactly how we teach and support your child to become a balanced reader. In the mini-workshops we will also focus on the many ways you can assist your child with their reading development at home. We will have a creche available for those who are unable to source any other alternative arrangements for their children.
TOYS
We have recently noticed an increase in students bringing in toys to play with on the playground. This is sometimes leading to conflict amongst peers, as well as children becoming upset when these toys get lost or damaged. We ask for parents' support in not allowing students to bring in anything other than a handball to play with.
SCHOOL DROP OFF AND PICK UP SAFETY
A friendly reminder to adhere to safety measures when dropping off and picking up your children from school. Please make sure that you are mindful of not parking in driveways or allocated bus zones and are only using the designated car drop off/pick up area if you are not parking your car.
SCHOOL UNIFORM - We wear it with pride!
At St Nicholas School we have high expectations with wearing our uniform with pride. We therefore seek parent and student support with wearing our uniform correctly each day. Each week for every student our sports uniform is to be worn Monday, Wednesday and Friday and our formal uniform is to be worn on Tuesday and Thursday.
We understand that at times students may need to wear an alternate piece of attire because of an unforeseen circumstance. If this is the case please email your child's class teacher to let them know.
Students may wear either their full summer or full winter uniform until Monday 1st June. From 1st June, all students are expected to be in their full winter uniform.
VERITAS AWARDS
Our Veritas Awards stem from our school motto - ‘Veritas’ - meaning truth. The Veritas Award is awarded to students who have been consistently displaying citizenship, leadership and/or Christian Living. Students receiving a Veritas Award are those students who have displayed our ‘Rules for Living’ in their everyday interactions. We announce our Veritas award recipients at Friday morning assemblies every fortnight. SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS
Supervision of students does not begin until 8.15 am each day.
St Nicholas School gates will not be open until the arrival of the first school bus at 8.15 am. It is not appropriate for children to be at school before this time with no supervision.
If your child/children require care before 8.15 am, we recommend contacting Esteem Kids Before and After School Care, which operates on the grounds of St Nicholas School.
