Year 6 Food Technology Excursion: Bundoora Park Farm
Our Year 6 students recently enjoyed a fantastic excursion to Bundoora Park Farm, bringing their learning about sustainability, farming, and food production to life. Throughout the day, students participated in a range of hands-on activities that deepened their understanding of how food is produced and how we can care for the environment. They dug compost and explored how food scraps can be reused to support sustainable farming practices, as well as created biodegradable garden pots using newspaper, highlighting ways to reduce waste. Students also took part in a cooking session where they made scones, helping them connect farm ingredients to everyday food preparation and develop practical kitchen skills. A highlight of the day was interacting with the animals — feeding them and patting guinea pigs which strengthened their understanding of the role animals play in food systems.

Yr 10 Pop Culture Students step into the World of Pop Culture History at ACMI
Students from Mount Ridley College recently immersed themselves in the fascinating world of film, fashion, and pop culture during an engaging excursion to ACMI. The visit gave students the opportunity to explore the history of moving image and discover how entertainment, fashion, music, and media have shaped society across different decades.
Throughout the day, students explored exhibitions focused on the evolution of film, television, gaming, animation, and digital media, learning how pop culture reflects historical events, social movements, and changing attitudes over time. A major focus of the excursion was the influence of 1960s fashion and culture, with students examining how the decade inspired protest movements, music trends, artistic expression, and youth identity during periods of major social change.
Students were particularly engaged in discussions surrounding the rise of counterculture movements and how fashion became a powerful form of self-expression and political statement. The connection between tie-dye clothing, music festivals, peace movements, and social activism allowed students to better understand how pop culture can influence historical change.
As part of the hands-on learning experience, students participated in creating their own tie-dye shirts inspired by 1960s fashion trends. The colourful and creative designs produced by students were a highlight of the day, showcasing both individuality and creativity. The activity allowed students to take their applied learning to the next level by combining historical understanding with practical, artistic expression.
Staff praised the students for their engagement, curiosity, and enthusiasm throughout the excursion. The experience provided students with a unique opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world historical and cultural experiences, further deepening their understanding of how pop culture continues to shape society today.
Year 10 STEM - Fusion 360 Excursion (22/04/2026)
Students recently visited Quantum Victoria for an engaging hands‑on excursion focused on Fusion 360. During the session, students explored industry‑standard design tools, learned the basics of 3D modelling, and gained insight into real‑world applications of CAD technology. The experience helped build practical skills, boosted creative problem‑solving, and gave students a glimpse into future pathways in design, engineering, and technology.
Yr 10 Geography Excursion
On Monday the 4th of May the Year 10 Geography students travelled into the city to visit the Royal Botanical Gardens, Yarra River and CBD. They were able to wander the lush Royal Botanic Gardens, exploring biodiversity, green space planning, and the balance between nature and the urban landscape. Then stroll along the Yarra River, uncovering its role in Melbourne’s development, environmental challenges, and its connection to people and place. Finally, we journeyed through the city centre, where urban design, land use, and cultural hotspots reveal how humans shape their environment. The students had a fantastic experience and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to learn outside of school.
Year 11 Food Studies Excursion: Royal Botanic Gardens
Our Year 11 Food Studies students recently attended the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne for an Aboriginal Heritage Walk as part of their Unit 1 Outcome 2 studies. Students explored the deep connection between First Nations peoples, food, and Country, gaining valuable insights into native ingredients, sustainable food practices, and the cultural significance of Australia’s indigenous food systems. This hands-on learning experience strengthened their understanding of food origins, sustainability, and the important role of traditional knowledge in shaping contemporary food practices.
It was a valuable opportunity for students to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences and deepen their appreciation of Australia’s rich food heritage.
Year 11 Food Studies

Yr 12 Business Management
Our Year 12 Business Management students have kicked off their Operations Management outcome with something delicious! 🍞✨To bring theory to life, students got hands-on by making fairy bread—gaining firsthand experience of how a manufacturing business uses inputs, processes, and outputs to operate effectively. Let’s just say they didn’t realise learning could be this tasty… 😋
Year 12 Biology : Ecolinc Excursion
In week 1 of Term 2, the Year 12 Biology students attended an excursion to Ecolinc, where they explored key concepts of photosynthesis through practical experiments.
During the visit, students conducted two investigations to better understand the factors that influence the rate of photosynthesis. In the first experiment, they measured the drop in carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels to examine how different environmental conditions affect photosynthetic activity.
In the second experiment, students used a colour-changing indicator to observe the rate of photosynthesis over time. By comparing results in both light and dark conditions, they were able to clearly see the impact of light on the process.
The excursion provided valuable hands-on experience, allowing students to apply their classroom knowledge in a real laboratory setting and deepen their understanding of photosynthesis.
