From our Assistant Principal

Judith McDonald

As we reach the end of Term 1, it’s a great time to reflect on what has been a busy and rewarding start to the school year. Across the school, each week has been filled with achievements, growth and opportunities for students to continue to develop their learning, confidence and independence.

🎓 Individual Education Plans

This week you will receive your child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) via Compass. If you would like a hard copy, please contact the office and we will organise to print this for you.

Teachers have developed these IEP's with input from you at the Student Support Group meetings. They contain the individual goals for your child related to the Victorian Curriculum subject areas. They also include entry skills in English,  Maths and Personal and Social Capabilities which describe your child's current skills together with a list of the adjustments which are implemented by classroom staff to support your child to successfully access the curriculum.

We hope that you find these IEP's helpful and informative and that they reflect your thoughts about next learning steps for your child. If you have any questions about your child's IEP, please feel free to contact your child's teacher early next term. You can also speak with the Instructional Team Leader who oversees  the area of the school your child is in.

Just a reminder that our Team Leaders are:

Primary 1 - Gemma Kennedy

Primary 2 -Jess Mooney

Secondary - Lauren Shannon

Senior Secondary - Sam Redenbach

Specialist - Justin Sproules

Allied Health - Julie Hughes

🏅 Student Achievements

We would like to congratulate all students who have received Principal awards this term for their effort, improvement, and positive attitude. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed—well done! These certificates are given out at our weekly Principal Awards which are held on Friday mornings. This term our Senior Secondary students have been attending in person in the library whilst other classes have been joining in online from their classrooms.

🛑Shelter in Place Drill – Last Week

Last week, our school conducted a Shelter in Place emergency drill as part of our ongoing commitment to student and staff safety.

A Shelter in Place procedure is used when it is safer for everyone to remain indoors rather than evacuate the buildings. This may occur in situations such as severe weather, environmental hazards, or external threats in the local area.

During the drill, students and staff practiced:

  • Moving quickly and calmly into designated safe areas
  • Securing classrooms by closing windows and doors
  • Participating in quiet learning activities while waiting for further instructions
  • Following directions from teachers and school staff

The drill was completed successfully, with students demonstrating a developing understanding of the expectations during this procedure.

Practicing these procedures helps ensure that, in the event of a real emergency, our school community can respond quickly and effectively. We will continue to conduct regular drills throughout the year to maintain a high level of preparedness.

If you have any questions about our safety procedures, please feel free to contact Christine or I.

🙏 Thank You to Staff & Families

A big thank you to our dedicated teachers and support staff for their ongoing commitment, as well as to families for their continued support throughout the term. Working together makes a real difference in student success.

📅 Looking Ahead

We wish all students and families a safe and relaxing holiday break. Term 2 will begin on Monday 20th of April, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for another exciting term.

🌟 Final Message

Congratulations to all students on successfully completing Term 1. Enjoy the holidays, stay safe, and we’ll see you next term!
