The 2025 Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge, will open for registrations on Monday 3 March 2025.

The Challenge encourages children and students to read a set number of books and record their efforts online. Since the Challenge first began in 2005, more than 4.3 million students have read over 60 million books. It allows students to explore some new titles, authors and genres or just see how much they can read over the next 5 or 6 months. They can record any books that they have read since the beginning of this term.

If Grade 3 to Grade 6 students would like to participate, would they please write their name and class in the exercise book next to Library bear and I will activate their account after March 3rd and send them information to get them started.

The Foundation to Grade 2 students will automatically be activated by me. Once this is done, I will send out information that can be used if families want to add to their child’s dashboard book list. Students at this level will have read to them many books in Library and their classroom and should complete the challenge this way, so it is not something that has to be done at home.

Many students want to aim for more than the 30 required for Foundation to Grade 2, or 15 for Grade 3 to 6. In recent years, one student managed to put 157 books on their list. There are a couple who have already decided to challenge this number.

And what do get for your troubles? A beautiful certificate signed by all the living premiers, a sense of achievement, and maybe you will have found a new favourite author or genre along the way.
