2025 SWIMMING SPORTS

On February 7th, Oberon’s annual interhouse Swimming Sports took place at Kardinia Pool, bringing together students from all year levels to compete, support, and show their house spirit. The day was filled with excitement, enthusiasm, and memorable performances from students (and staff).
The atmosphere at the pool was one of mateship and friendly competition, with all students displaying positive behaviour and a strong sense of pride in representing Oberon. From the youngest competitors to the senior swimmers, each student played an integral role in making this event a success. Their enthusiastic attitude and sportsmanship were a true reflection of the values we uphold at Oberon.
We added two new events this year, with the addition of a staff 50m freestyle race, and the King and Queen of the Pool races. The fastest seven students from all age groups for each of the male and female categories faced off against the fastest staff member to see who Oberon's King and Queen of the pool truly were. Well done to Matthew Gilbert of Year 10 who edged out his field, which had stiff competition from Outdoor Education teacher, Mr McKinnon. Congratulations also to Miss Broadbent who was crowned Queen of The Pool, outlasting the fastest females amongst the student cohort.
Thomson House emerged as the winners, just beating Greeves House by only nine points. It was an especially sweet victory for Thomson, marking their first win at the Carnival since 2013. Congratulations to Thomson House and their House Captains, Tom Sutherland and Henry White, who worked tirelessly to rally their house members and secure a win in the pool on the day. Cameron House finished third and Lipson House rounded out the competition in fourth place.
In addition to the house points, swimmers were recognised for their individual achievements, earning the title of Age Group Champion in their respective categories.
