Building Resilience: Stepping Outside Comfort Zones for Leadership

Dear Saltwater,

During our First 20 Days, our students are embracing challenges and demonstrating resilience as they apply for leadership roles. Whether writing applications, delivering speeches, or participating in interviews, they are pushing past their comfort zones to develop confidence and essential skills for the future.

This journey isn’t just about securing a title—it’s about personal growth, perseverance, and learning from every experience along the way.

Leadership is not just a badge; it’s about actions, mindset, and making a positive impact!

Every student has the potential to be a leader by showing initiative, supporting their peers, and setting a great example in the classroom and beyond.

At Saltwater, we celebrate all students who step up, take responsibility, and work to make a difference in our school community.

Building resilience is key to navigating leadership challenges and personal growth. Some important strategies include :

  • Maintaining a positive mindset,

  • Embracing mistakes as learning opportunities,

  • Setting small goals to work towards bigger achievements,

  • Practicing self-reflection,

  • Seeking feedback,

  •  Staying persistent even when things don’t go as planned are all essential in developing resilience.

Most importantly, asking for help and supporting one another fosters a strong, confident school community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

If you miss out on a leadership role this time, don’t let it stop you from making a difference! You can still share your ideas, suggest improvements, or even start a club by reaching out to your Class Captain or year-level Junior School Council (JSC) representative.

Leadership comes in many forms, and every student has a voice that matters.

Please take a look at some of our students' applications. We were truly impressed by their speaking skills!

Keep stepping up, taking initiative, and finding ways to contribute to our amazing school community!
