Premiers Reading Challenge

Hello, Everyone,
I am super excited to announce that the 2025 Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge has begun. I’m hoping that as many students as possible will participate in this event.
Participation is so easy! Just keep a record in your journal of the books you read. Reading is part of your homework, so you can use this for the Premier’s Reading Challenge too. When you have completed a book, you can ask your parent or teacher to sign your journal, then add it to your list on the website. More information on how to do this will follow in the next newsletter.
For new participants, the Reading Challenge runs from March 03 2025 to September 05 2025. During this time Foundation – Year 2 are expected to read 30 books. Years 3-6 are expected to read 15 books. There is a long list of books from which children may choose for this challenge. It will be displayed in the Library. Books in our Library are colour coded so that children can see at a glance which books can be read. Teachers will be able to assist in selecting books during their Library session.
At this point, all that remains for students to do is to read regularly, record the titles of their books and enjoy the time they spend with their noses in a good book. They will soon receive their user names and passwords so that they can log their books in.
Parents may notice that books need to be verified. That’s something that I have to do as the Coordinator. I won’t be doing this daily, so don’t panic if the books are not verified for some time. They will be as soon as I get time to do them.
So let’s meet the Challenge, everyone.
To quote Dr Seuss:
“Read, read, read.
The more you read, the more you know.
The more you know, the more you grow,
So Read, read, read.”

PRC Coordinator.
