Wellbeing Report

It has been a fantastic start to the school year in wellbeing.
We have been so pleased to see the students transitioning so well into their new grades and friendships.
This term our wellbeing team will look a little different to previous years. The fantastic Andre Campbell is taking some time away for personal leave and so myself, Libby and Sally will be available in her stead.
Please pop down to our wellbeing office if you have any questions, concerns or want to chat about your child/ren. We will be up at Kiss and Drop most mornings so please come and say hi.
As always, for any enquiries please email the Wellbeing Team at-

Zones of Regulation
This year we are implementing the ‘Zones of Regulation’ in every classroom. The Zones of Regulation aims to teach children strategies to help them to identify their emotions and cope with these feelings so they can get back to feeling calm and ready to learn. These coping strategies are called ‘self regulation’. The four zones as pictured below are blue, green, yellow and red and we will be upskilling students to better understand and name their emotions and the ‘tools’ that they can use to regulate themselves when needed. If you are interested in learning more about the Zones of Regulation there is a fantastic website that can give you further details (www.zonesofregulation.com).
CHAPLAIN'S CHAT
A New Day
It’s no secret that being a parent is a hard task. Some days are filled with laughter and some days a filled with tantrums. As a parent it is important to remember that each new day is a new opportunity to connect with your child in a positive way. Let the new sunrise remind you that you have another chance. Begin by forgiving yourself for any mistakes you may have made yesterday and those that your children made and allow yourself to start fresh. Take steps toward reconciliation and allow your family to move into the new day without the baggage of yesterday plaguing your or their feelings. Use time that is already in your day to build connection with your children.
Below are some great tips, taken from the Parent Cue’s Parenting Your Forth Grader book:
In the Morning: Be a coach. Create purpose by starting the day with encouraging words.
Drive time: Be a friend. Hold informal conversations as you travel.
Meal Time: Be a teacher. Establish values with intentional conversations, while you eat together.
Bed Time: Be a counsellor. Strengthen your relationship through heart conversations at the end of the day.
Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club team are looking for volunteers. If you are interested in helping we could do with some extra hands in the mornings. Helpers will be involved in preparing toast and cleaning up after the children have finished. Breakfast Club runs between 8:15 and 8:45 on a Monday and Wednesday mornings. Helpers can attend as little or as many mornings that fit personal schedules. WWCC cards will need to be applied for before you can volunteer at school. If you are available and willing please contact Sally by email sally.marshall@education.vic.gov.au We are looking forward to having some more helpers available so we can continue to improve our program to suit the needs of our wonderful children.
Food Pantry
The food pantry is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons between 2:30 and 3:30pm. Please note the pantry will close early on Monday’s. We have a range of foods, including gluten and lactose free items and on Wednesday’s we have fresh carrots and fruit, apples and oranges. If you are in need of a pantry top up please stop by and pick something up.
