Principal's Report
Dear Parents,
I have a very positive newsletter for you this week as it seems we have had a great start to the school year.
I know everyone is busy in the morning. To help you we have plenty of staff on hand at the kiss and drop in the morning. I’m also up there as much as I can. Therefore, if you need to talk to me don’t hesitate. It’s fun to see all our beautiful families and smiling faces in the morning.
Eastyn (Prep C) with his family arriving for a great day at school!
Last week I was lucky enough to be with 110 5/6 students on camp. City camp is our biannual camp in which students learn about the magic of the city and our less then magic transport system (we were stuck at Blackburn station for a period of time on our way home). Events included, a tour of the MCG, the Old Melbourne Gaol, MSAC, the Shrine, the Zoo and lots more. I’m very proud of the way the students represented the school, and I would like to thank all the staff and parents that went for giving our students an experience they will not forget.
We all had a ball, except for my tired legs on Friday night!
The school has been asked to confer and collaborate with the diverse learning hub team in the department, which they said is because: “In recognition of your initiative, leadership and success in literacy and language teaching and learning”. Which I thought was a nice pat on the back for our great teachers.
We have also been contacted by Cobram Primary School who are sending two staff members for a day to watch the wonderful Mrs Menta in action.
Our school strives to do the best it can for its students and the Woori Community. We also know that we have a moral purpose to help the education system at large as best we can.
Please remember we have a curriculum day booked on Friday 28th February. Our literacy consultant will take the teachers for the day and update them on what are the current research based best practices for teaching reading and spelling. As always apologies to parents for the problems this causes. I do assure these days are essential for us to continue to be a high performing school.
The following students have been selected to be our JSC as class representatives and will receive their badges very soon. JSC is one of the ways we have for students to have a voice in the way their school runs. Congratulations to the following students:

We will be including our preps at half year.
I am totally aware that we have a lack of parking around the school. Therefore, I do know that parking is difficult even in the best of times. However, can I please ask that you do not park in the disabled parking areas at the front of the school, unless you have a disabled parking permit. We do have parents that need to use the disabled parking, it is very distressing for them if the parking is taken up by parents that do not have a permit.
Reading with a parent is so important to a child’s development and is a fun thing to do before bed. Above are two of our teachers Danielle and Zena reading with their children and on the right is Maddie our school nurse reading with her children. I plan on publishing a few of these each week. If you would like to be in the newsletter, please send me photo of you reading with your children and I will publish them.
Send your photos to my email address

Have a great week!
And remember when life gets a little difficult escape to the wonderful world of a book! Or even better escape to a book with your children!
I’ll see you around the school!
