Clean Up Australia Day
We were so proud of the way our staff and children embraced Clean Up Australia Day this week. They reflected on the impact of litter and the importance of keeping our environment clean, particularly our waterways, to protect wildlife and pets.
Our Sustainability and Wellbeing Leaders extended their efforts beyond the school, heading to the local sports precinct to help keep our wider community spaces clean. Together, we discussed the importance of caring not just for our own environment but for all of God’s creation.
Year 5/6 Incursion - How a Law is Made.
Today, our Year 5/6 children participated in an online incursion about how laws are made. They learned that laws, also called acts, statutes, or legislation, begin as drafts known as bills. These bills are introduced to Parliament, where they are debated and voted on by Members of Parliament in both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council. If a bill is approved by both houses, it is then sent to the Governor, who gives it Royal Assent, officially making it a law. The children gained insight into the law-making process and the important role Parliament plays in shaping the rules that govern our community.
