Celebrating Student Leadership and Voice
At Holy Rosary, we recognise the importance of empowering students to take on active roles and to have a voice in shaping the direction of their school. The Student Representative Council (SRC) gives students an invaluable opportunity to develop leadership skills, voice their opinions, and contribute positively to our school and community. The SRC fosters a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and engagement.
Class teachers were inundated with applications from Year 3-6 students to be on the Student Representative Council (SRC) this year. We love their passion and commitment.
All positions were voted by the students in each class, ensuring that the SRC reflects the collective choice and voice of the student body. This process reinforces the importance of student agency and provides them with the platform to express their views and have their voices heard.
I also recognise our Year 6 leaders who have already initiated meetings to share and discuss ways they might make a difference to our school and community in 2025. They have already organised to meet with me regularly so that I may hear their ideas. How fabulous! I am confident that their leadership will inspire others in 2025.
We are proud of all students who nominated for these important roles and the courage they showed in standing before their peers to share their vision. Their leadership roles promote a positive, inclusive, and collaborative school culture where all students can thrive.
Thank you for your continued support in encouraging your children to step up as leaders. We look forward to seeing the incredible work that the SRC and our Year 6 leaders will do this year.
TK Canteen
Last year our SRC organised a sushi day, via TK Tuckshop. Following this day, and in consultation with our 2024 SRC and our School Advisory Council, we have organised to have tuckshop lunches delivered to school each Tuesday. Stay tuned for menus and instructions for setting up your account. The first tuckshop order will kick off on 4 March. Details to follow!
Fun Lunch Friday
Each week the children are given the opportunity to purchase food items from our “canteen”, usually a choice of baked goods from a local bakery, popcorn as well as a variety of drinks. Items are either $1 or $2 and are purchased at the second lunch. We ask parents to speak to their children about not sharing money or purchased goods with others.
Student Free Day
As already advertised, our first Student Free Day will be on 25 February. On this day, staff will continue their work on our ‘Optimising Learning for All’ initiative, which started in 2024. Teachers will focus on enhancing their skills in using assessments and teaching strategies to support student learning. This professional development ensures that we provide the best possible education for every child. We appreciate your support as our staff engage in this important work to improve learning outcomes for all students. Staff will spend the day working at the MACS Northern Office.
Team Kids will operate on this day should parents require this service.

School Leaders Commissioning Ceremony
Families are invited to join us for our Leadership Commissioning Ceremony on 24 February at 2:30pm in Holy Rosary Church. During the ceremony our Year Six students will be presented to the community, make a leadership pledge and receive their leadership badges and school rugby jumpers.
Sacraments 2025
If you wish for your child to make a sacrament this year please complete this form Sacraments 2025. We are currently in the process of confirming dates for each sacrament with the parish and we will inform participating families once the dates have been set.
Hope it’s a fabulous week for you and your family,
Christine
