Financial Assistance

CSEF and SSB Funds

Reminding families that the School Saving Bonus (SSB) and CSEF funds are available to assist with school payments.

CSEF

The 2025 Camps, Sports and Excursion Fund (CSEF) is now open for families to apply for. Applications can be found online on the Department of Education’s website and require a valid Health Care Card to be eligible for payment. The 2025 funding amount is $256 per student. The fund can be used for the following:

· Camps

· Sporting events

· Excursions

CSEF cannot be used for school fees or extra-curricular programs such as Music, Volleyball, Duke of Edinburgh or formals.

Please note, families who have a valid Health Care Card and have received funding before through the school do not need to re-submit a form at the beginning of each year. However, if you are new to the school, your funding does not rollover from your previous school, and you will need to submit a new application.

If you wish to apply, please either drop off a hard copy of your application to the front office or email it to info@nhs.vic.edu.au and we will submit it on your behalf.

SSB

The School Saving Bonus (SSB) was introduced last year and consists of a one-off $400 bonus for each student across Victoria from prep to year 12. To access the funding, families will have received an email with their individual code from the Victorian Government and instructions on how to navigate the SSB portal. For those who did not receive their code last year, they will be sent over the following weeks. From here, families can allocate the bonus across the following avenues:

· Campion (textbooks)

· Edrolo (digital learning)

· Noone (uniform)

· School activities (Please note, this can take a few days to be reflected with the school)

If selected to use for school activities, the money will sit with the school and can be used for the following:

· Camps

· Sporting events

· Excursions

SSB cannot be used for school fees or extra-curricular programs such as Music.

For any assistance regarding SSB, you can contact their support team either via phone on 1800 338 663 or via email at school.saving.bonus@education.vic.gov.au

Unfortunately, Compass does not currently have a function for families to use their SSB or CSEF credits as a form of payment for events. If you would like to pay for an event using CSEF or SSB funds, please email this request to info@nhs.vic.edu.au and we can action this for you. Ensure your email has the following information:

· Your child’s name

· The name of the event

· Written consent for them to attend
