Recycling for Good Stuff

For children and parents free after school this Thursday (6th February): please join Allison and I to help sort aluminium cans and plastic water bottles from landfill waste, all collected at the Pride March After Party on Sunday. Funds raised will be donated to Minus 18, for the work they do with LGBTQIA+ young people.

I’ll spill the cans out on the oval, under tree shade, and we’ll get on our knees to sort them, chat, have fun. BYO gloves, if you can.

The idea is to add more green to the Pride flag, and raise funds for an associated cause, and thank you Scott (a SKiPPS dad) and Apollo at the St Kilda Bowling Club who let me run this initiative on Sunday. The club is a gathering spot for a local community – here’s just one other way it gives back to others.

Since November, through its bottles and cans – at the two collection boxes made for them – the club has raised nearly $1000 for the Sacred Heart Mission, 10c at a time. Now it’ll give to Minus 18, for what they do.

All are welcome to join us after school on Thursday in a sorting circle, get a bit grounded, catch up with each other, tell stories, be together – all while doing good stuff.

(Oh, yes, and if anyone knows of a storage spot for 9 collection boxes before I paint them with shamrocks for the St Patrick’s Day Festival, please let me know!!!).
