Secondary 11/12

Term 1
Year 11
This term, the Year 11 students have been preparing for Camp as part of their Personal Development Skills 'Understanding Self and Developing Self' unit. The focus was to explore who they are and where they came from.
Students helped to plan and organise a Year 11 BBQ to Binnak Park developing their problem solving skills. Students had to look at the history of their family and how that relates to them. Then expanding to look at food that relates to their own family history.
We then looked at what makes Melbourne a liveable city and how they fit within it. Students visited the local shopping strip to explore the different cultural foods. They were then more prepared for Year 11 City Camp in which they spent 2 nights and 3 days in the city, exploring the different elements of the city, fun activities and the sites of Melbourne.
This helps prepare our students for life after school, gaining confidence in using public transport and exploring new places.
Year 12
This term, the Year 12 students have been visiting Post School Services as part of their Personal Development unit 'Community Participation and Awareness'. The focus was to explore some of the local services that deliver vocational programs, supported employment opportunities, life skill development and social and recreational activities.
The students had the opportunity to tour the sites, speak to the staff and participants (including previous Concord School students) and reflect on the programs in reference to their own personal goals and hopes for the future.
The students were then able to use this information to guide them at the Concord School Careers Expo that was held for Year 11 and 12 students. After the Careers Expo the students participated in 1:1 Transition meetings to discuss their future goals once they graduate Concord School.
