SOME HOLIDAY ACTIVITY SUGGESTIONS

WHAT’S ON AT THE MOVIES?

"Runt" by Craig Silvey, winner of the 2023 CBCA Younger Readers Book of the Year has just been released as a movie! It is a great read and by all reports it is also a fantastic film and a great holiday activity for the whole family. One film critic has described it as “a wonderful, uplifting film based on a big-hearted novel by one of Australia’s most gifted writers. It’s about love, friendship, kindness, pride and hope.” If you enjoyed Babe, you are bound to love Runt! Click on the link to view the trailer.Runt Trailer

Synopsis: Annie Shearer lives in the country town of Upson Downs with her best friend, an adopted stray dog called Runt. The two share a very special bond. After years of evading capture, Runt is remarkably fast and agile, perfect for herding runaway sheep. But when a greedy local landowner puts her family's home at risk, Annie directs Runt's extraordinary talents towards a different pursuit - winning the Agility Course Grand Championship at the lucrative Krumpets Dog Show in London. However, there is a curious catch: Runt will only obey Annie's commands if nobody else is watching. With all eyes on them, Annie and Runt must beat the odds and the fastest dogs in the world to save her farm. Runt is a heart-warming and hilarious tale of kindness, friendship, hurdles, hoops, tunnels, see-saws, being yourself and bringing out the best in others.

Overdue Books

We have a number of students who have overdue books and the forthcoming school holidays would be the ideal time to conduct an overdue book hunt, who knows what other treasures you may find? It would be greatly appreciated if overdue books could be returned to school as soon as possible. If overdue library books cannot be located, they will need to be paid for or replaced. I appreciate your support with this. Any queries please contact me mholley@arm.catholic.edu.au

Damaged Books

In the unfortunate event that a book is damaged please let me know straight away so that damaged books are not returned to the shelves, but instead are put aside for repair.
