Principal's Message

Ms Grace Carlo-Stella

Dear Parents and Carers,

R U OK? Day – A Reminder to Check In

Today, September 12th, we observe R U OK? Day. This is a national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone to ask, “Are you OK?” and support people who may be struggling with life. At StMM’s, we encourage our students to check in with their peers and promote kindness, empathy, and understanding. As a school community, we all play a vital role in supporting each other and your involvement at home strengthens this culture of care. Let us remember to 'check-in' regularly with each other not just today.

Thank You for Attending Our Open Classroom

Thank you to the parents who joined us for our Open Classroom event. It was wonderful to see such an engaged and enthusiastic turnout. Your presence and participation in your child's learning journey make a significant impact. The students were thrilled to showcase their maths work and share their learning experiences with you.

Maths is not just about numbers; it helps children develop logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity. Engaging with your child in everyday activities such as counting, measuring, or even playing number games can significantly reinforce their learning. We encourage you to integrate maths into your daily routines to support continued growth in this area.

Uniform Reminder – Wearing the Correct Attire

We remind all parents and students about the importance of wearing the correct school uniform each day. The uniform represents our school identity and wearing it with pride fosters a sense of belonging and respect. Please ensure that your child is dressed in the appropriate uniform, including school shoes and hat, particularly as the weather begins to warm up. Let us continue to maintain the high standard of presentation that reflects our school’s values. Until the end of term three, students are able to wear either full winter or full summer uniform.

Bring Your Own Device

In the last newsletter it was announced that starting in 2025, our school will be introducing a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for students in Years 3 to 6. After discussion at the P&F meeting, BYOD will commence in 2025 for students in years five and six and will be optional in years three and four.

Next week, we will be sending out detailed information regarding the BYOD program, including guidelines on purchasing devices. To ensure a smooth transition, we are recommending that families consider purchasing the same devices that the high school students currently use, as this will provide continuity in their learning journey.

We appreciate your support as we implement this new program and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our students' education.

Thank you again for your continued support in making our school a positive and thriving learning environment.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind Regards,

Grace
