SACSA Netball Competition

Earlier this term, we had eight teams compete over two days at the SACSA Netball Competition. The conditions were somewhat trying on the outdoor courts with students battling wind and showers. Even so, we managed to come away from the day with some remarkable results. Our Year 9/10 girls gold team made it all the way through to the finals, securing the silver medal in a nailbiter game. Other results can be seen below.

Well done to all athletes and their coaches on another great SACSA carnival for Endeavour.

Community Netball

Endeavour’s Year 7 Community Netball Team wrapped up their season last week with an impressive fourth-place finish. The girls displayed great skill and resilience throughout the season, securing several wins and narrowly missing out on others. Their growth and improvement were evident as they progressed to the preliminary final, where they ultimately faced a tough loss to the Cedar Warriors.

Despite the result, finishing fourth and making it to the preliminary final is a remarkable achievement, especially considering for over half the team, this was their first season playing netball. A huge well done to the girls for their dedication and hard work!

Special thanks to Andrea Campbell for training the girls over the past two terms, and to Bel for her support in coaching the team on game days.

Community Basketball

This winter season, Endeavour proudly entered two teams in the Under 16s Community Basketball Competition. Both teams had outstanding seasons, finishing first and second on the ladder, each with only three losses. Their strong performances continued through the finals, leading to an Endeavour showdown in the grand final. The game began with a close contest, as the Under 16 A team held a narrow 3-point lead over the Under 16 B team at halftime. However, the U16B team gained momentum in the second half, pulling away to claim the championship with a 15-point victory.

Despite one team finishing as runner-up, Endeavour emerged as the true winner, achieving the remarkable feat of having two teams in the grand final.

Special thanks to Ollie for his help in training the boys throughout the season, as well as Chris and Dean for their exceptional coaching on game days.

Australian Youth Volleyball Championships

Last week Endeavour saw three of our students compete in the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships, a state-level tournament hosted by Volleyball Australia.

Tom Ngo and Evin Sengsombath showcased their skills in the Under 14s competition, making a strong impression with their performances.

Meanwhile, Khoa Nguyen, competing in the Under15s division, faced intense competition, finishing 7th in the group stage, but against all odds, his team went on an incredible run through the finals, ultimately securing the gold medal in the Under 15s competition.

We are extremely proud of Tom, Evin, and Khoa for their continued excellence in Volleyball.

Debating Summary:

Grand Final Edition

On Saturday, 21 September, Debating SA hosted the 2024 Year 10 Debating grand final in the House of Assembly, Parliament House. A tense semi-final earlier in September, saw Endeavour College represented in both teams at the grand final!

Teams 10 Blue and 10 Green spent weeks preparing some of the best speeches they have ever written to debate that 'Australia should withdraw from the Paris Agreement.'

After a phenomenal season and much growth, I am pleased to report that on top of Endeavour College representing the entire Year 10 Grand Final, we had one of the closest debates ever witnessed! Five adjudicators judged the debate and the split decisions between the two teams looked like:

  • 10 Blue - WIN (3 adjudicators)
    • Monique Beattie
    • Hayley Cheng
    • Flynn Hutchinson
    • Samantha Perryman
  • 10 Green - LOSS (2 adjudicators)
    • Mikayla Carr
    • Alex Fechner
    • Rachel Ratsch
    • Olivia Vasilev

The fact that the adjudicators couldn't unanimously agree on the winner (and in conversations with Endeavour staff after the debate, neither could we) shows just how strong these teams really are.

Congratulations to 10 Blue for being the 2024 Debating SA Year 10 grand final winners and equally, to 10 Green for being the 2024 Debating SA Year 10 grand final runner ups!

Thanks to Dr Whittle and Mrs Higgins for the work that they have put in this season, in particular the support offered into the grand final. The topic was not easy by any means and required vast amounts of research to be able to argue their stance.

Thank you to all the family and friends that attended. Looking around and seeing the Endeavour College community fill up the House of Assembly was simply awesome. The support parents and caregivers provide your children, is unmatched.

I'd also like to show my appreciation to all of the staff that attended. It was amazing to see staff support students in preparation, and also on the day. I can't thank you all enough for giving up time on your weekend to witness weeks of hard work and intense research come to life.

The grand final was recorded and will be available on the Debating SA YouTube channel. It is absolutely worth a watch!

Planning for the 2025 Debating SA season will commence in Term 4, but for now, all debaters deserve a well-earned rest.

NRL Tag Competition:

A Day of Team Spirit and Success

We are excited to share the wonderful achievements of our students who participated in the recent NRL Tag Competition this term. Our school proudly hosted this event, which brought together teams from various schools to showcase their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

We had three teams representing our school: Middle Years Girls, Middle Years Boys, and Mixed Seniors. All teams put in an outstanding effort and made us incredibly proud with their performances.

The Middle Years Girls team had a fantastic run, finishing in an impressive 2nd place. Their determination and coordination on the field was truly inspiring, fighting hard in every match they played.

Our Mixed Seniors team also had a remarkable day, securing 2nd place in their category.

The team displayed excellent teamwork and strategy, proving their determination against tough competition.

The Middle Years Boys team showcased great talent and perseverance, earning a commendable 3rd place. Their hard work and dedication were evident throughout the competition, and they represented our school with pride.

Overall, it was a day filled with excitement, sportsmanship, and achievement.

We congratulate all our players for their dedication and effort, and we look forward to seeing them continue to excel in future competitions. Thank you to everyone who supported and cheered on our teams!

Illuminate Entrepreneurial Challenge

Last week,  two Endeavour teams (10 students from Years 10 and 9) participated in the week-long Illuminate Entrepreneurial Challenge, hosted by Adelaide University. Competing against other schools, they were tasked with a rather complicated problem and one they were unfamiliar with – the future merge of the Universities. They had to identify a business solution to make life easier for Uni students. They collaborated with students from other schools, Entrepreneurs and Business professionals.

They then worked together to create a highly detailed Business Case, financial projections, marketing campaigns, prototypes and then pitched to Sharks (including University lecturers) on the Friday. It is an extremely stressful and intense program with strict deadlines and expectations, but every one of students rose to the Challenge. The team called ‘Trajectory’ designed an APP linking University students with Industries and Businesses who would offer work experience and the other team Campus Connections, designed an innovative electric Bus for students who need to move between campuses and from outer suburbs.

Campus Connections won the overall Challenge, picking up the awards for Best Solution, Best Pitch, Best Financials and Best Teamwork. Trajectory can 3rd in the Challenge and were awarded Best Business Case.

The students from Campus Connections have been invited to participate in the National Final early next year, which they are very excited about.
