From the Principal
Happy Holidays
As Term 3 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on what has been an exceptionally busy period. In fact, I’m writing this edition of the Anchor from Melbourne, where I’ve had the pleasure of spending time with our Year 11 students on camp. Though my trip here is brief, as I look forward to farewelling our staff and students in person during the final assembly. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone who participated in the many activities and celebrations across the college this term.
Some highlights include, but are certainly not limited to, the fantastic performances at Centre Stage, the creative brilliance of Momentos Fantasmas, and the intense internal battle between our Year 10 debating teams at the Parliament House Grand Final—not to mention the everyday wins that our staff and students conquer in the classroom each and every day.
I would like to wish our Endeavour staff and students who are about to embark on their trip to Indonesia safe travels. To our families and broader community, I wish you a restful and well-deserved holiday break. Finally, to our current Year 12s, my advice is to use this time not only to rest but also to prepare mentally and academically, setting yourselves up for a strong finish. Take this opportunity to recharge and get ahead of the curve, ready for your final push in Term 4 as you approach the end of your secondary schooling journey.
Year 12 Principal Lunches
As our Year 12s secondary education journey draws to a close, I took the opportunity to meet with most of our students in their Village groups, with the remaining Villages still scheduled for next Term. These meetings have provided a valuable chance to connect with our senior students and hear first-hand their experiences over the years to better understand and recognise all that is loved and appreciated at Endeavour College. It has also been insightful to receive their feedback on areas where we can continue to improve.
Class of 2004 and 2014
With our Class of 2004 and 2014 Reunion just around the corner I have been reflecting on our humble beginnings and our growing community. We're starting to see alumni return to Endeavour as parents. This significant milestone is a true testament to our College, and our welcoming and nurturing community. Through our clear, shared mission, community has had long-lasting and profound impacts on individuals, ensuring strong support networks and lasting relationships.
It is my privilege to be part of this full circle moment, and I look forward to maintaining and nurturing these relationships now and into the future.
Satchet Singh
I am pleased to announce that Satchet Singh, Digital Technologies Learning Leader, has been offered a place to undertake a Higher Degree by Research at the University of South Australia to complete his PhD.
His research will be around teaching with Ai, with key questions including:
- How can Ai be ethically and responsibly integrated into educational practices to maximise benefits and minimise potential risks?
- What are the pedagogical implications of Ai-driven learning environments, and how can they be designed and optimised through teacher engagement in professional networks or communities of practice?
- How can the implementation of Ai in education be evaluated by teachers to ensure its effectiveness and impact their future educational practices?
We're excited to see how this can positively influence students' learning. You can see his journey on our LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/endeavour-college/
Building Upgrades
Upcoming building upgrades include the installation of carpet upstairs in the Mall during this holiday break. The carpet from the Discovery Centre will extend to include the stairs outside the Year 8 space, along with painting the stairwell balustrade.
We have successfully secured a grant to support this project. Stage two will focus on upgrading the lockers.
College Uniform Refresh
Together, with Dobson Uniform Suppliers, we have been working hard behind the scenes to refresh our College uniform. The design process which incorporated a wide breadth of expertise and experience, has helped shape the changes that will be implemented, to meet the needs of both current and future generations of Endeavour College students. We are excited to share the new and improved designs that reflect both our College spirit and modern style, whilst maintaining and upholding our well-established brand and image.
Stay tuned, as we look forward to showcasing these exciting concepts with more information, including roll out period, soon.
Enjoy the school holiday break, and stay safe.
