Wellbeing Hub

R U OK? DAY- Thursday 12th September

R U OK? is a suicide prevention charity and registered public health promotion that encourages people to stay connected and have conversations that can help others through difficult times.

St. Joseph’s is passionate about wellbeing. We are teaching our students to monitor and be aware of their feelings to make safe, informed choices and look after their own physical and mental health. Sometimes things aren’t easy, and we need to know that it’s ok to slow down, talk to someone we trust and say ‘No, I’m not OK’. Sometimes a reminder that there are people who are able to provide support when we need it is all we need to take the first steps to looking after our mental health.

This year we are hosting an R U OK? Day event at school. It is an opportunity to teach students about the ways they can look after their wellbeing through physical movement, social connection, using effective regulation techniques and having the tools to seek support when it’s needed. It is also an opportunity to focus on the meaningful connections we have within our lives and check in with those we care about most.

We are partnering with community and family services on the day who will be joining us in our activities. Working together, we can strengthen the support for our students, families and staff. All families are invited to attend our main event for Years 3-6 students at 2.10pm and participate in the activities with your children.
