Letter to Family and Friends

Dear Pilgrim Families,
Over the past year, one of my daughters has developed a deep love for worship music. She has been eager to share some of her favourite songs with our household and one song in particular has stayed on my playlist - I have even shared it with the Pilgrim Staff. The song is called, ‘No One’ by Elevation Music. It is quite an upbeat song with a catchy, repeated chorus, so of course it easily gets stuck in your head after you have heard it over and over!
Music has a powerful influence on our lives and I have noticed the young adults in my house are especially shaped and influenced by the music they listen to. The words and lyrics shared in songs can affect our behaviour, the words we choose and even our attitudes toward others. In my house I have had many different music styles come and go over the years - from techno and rap, to rock'n'roll from the 60's and 70's, to love songs, and of course Christian worship songs.
The message shared through this particular song includes the word “Yahweh” which is the Hebrew name for God in the Old Testament. In Exodus 3:14-15 God reveals himself to Moses, saying, ‘I am who I am.’
So who is the Lord? Through the Bible and this song, we can see the many attributes of God described. He is incomparable, a liberator, a healer, worthy of praise. He is a comforter, provider, precious and a conqueror of giants. Above all, He is constantly full of grace and mercy.
As we finish the term, may you have a restful and safe break over the holidays. Take time to listen to some fun music - perhaps you will enjoy listening to this song with me too!
Blessings,
