Welcome back to Term 4! I hope everyone had a refreshing break and is ready for the final stretch of the school year. This term brings exciting opportunities for learning, growth, and community events. It’s been fantastic to see just how active our students have been this year, and for a school our size, I am amazed at how well our students perform at any level in any sport! With both Hooptime and Regional Athletics most recently, we've witnessed some fantastic efforts and achievements by our students. But what has impressed me even more is the strong participation in sport outside of school. Many of our students are actively involved in weekly and weekend sports, and this past weekend, I saw countless Yarra Road families proudly representing their local teams—whether it was on the cricket pitch, netball court, or basketball court. It’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm and commitment to staying active and involved in the community. With the better weather arriving, we also have a larger number of our students riding and walking to school, which is great to see.
Remember Your Hats!
In line with our SunSmart policy, all staff, students, and volunteers at Yarra Road Primary School must wear a hat while outdoors. Students without a hat will be asked to stay under the shelter of the Oak Trees during breaks. Please ensure that all hats are clearly labelled with your child's name.
School Uniform
Please ensure your child wears the correct school uniform every day. With the warmer weather, more and more jumpers are being left around the yard. To help us return lost items to you, please label all your childrens' clothing. A quick swipe of a permanent marker can make a big difference! If you need assistance with purchasing uniforms, feel free to contact the office or email yarra.road.ps@education.vic.gov.au.
Asthma
It currently is Thunderstorm Asthma season. For more information please refer to this link: Epidemic thunderstorm asthma risk forecast | health.vic.gov.au
2025 Enrolment Intentions
If you are planning for your child to exit Yarra Road Primary School at the end of 2024, please contact the office via email: yarra.road.ps@education.vic.gov.au. This is not applicable for students of Year 6 families.
Mobile Phones at School
A reminder to all families that in line with DET policy, students are not permitted to use mobile phones while on school grounds. This applies during school hours and includes the period immediately after school, while still on school property. Student phones should remain in bags or handed into their teachers or office and be turned off until students are off school grounds. Research has shown that excessive use of devices, particularly before bedtime, can have a significant impact on sleep patterns, making it harder for children to fall asleep and get the rest they need. We encourage families to support their children in managing screen time effectively, particularly in the evenings.
Colour Fun Run – Next Friday!
Our annual Colour Fun Run is next Friday! It’s a great event where students can have fun, stay active, and support our school. We encourage all students to register for the event via the QR code on the flyer attached below or from the flyer that was sent home with your child. It’s a day of celebration, laughter, and lots of colour. Thanks again to our tireless Parents Association for organising such a great event!
Please complete the Swimming Program's consent and payment by Tuesday, 5th of November!
Colour Run
The PA Colour Run Committee has been working hard to make this an unforgettable event! We have already had some lucky prize winners, with plenty more to come! Thank you so much to all of the families and children who have set up fundraisers and have donated money to our wonderful school! So far we are sitting at a whopping $5,270 raised!

The PA are inviting all Yarra Road parents out to a well deserved end of year dinner! Come and join us, have a catch up with friends, and enjoy some great food and company! It’s been an amazing year of fundraising and fun so far and we look forward to celebrating it with you all!
