Welcome Back!

It has been wonderful to see all our students back at school, ready for an exciting year ahead. In Visual Arts and Culture Studies, students explored the art elements of line and shape, adding their own creative touch to the front cover of their Visual Arts & Mindfulness book. Our Foundation, Year 1/2, and Year 3/4 students have also enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year. They discovered that this special celebration follows the lunar calendar and lasts for 15 days. Each year is represented by an animal, and 2025 is the Year of the Snake. Students learnt that Chinese New Year symbolises luck, happiness, health, and fortune, and it is a time to let go of the past while welcoming the new year with positivity. To celebrate, Foundation and Year 1/2 students decorated by colouring in a paper snake to mark the occasion. Year 3/4 students created little red envelopes, which are believed to bring good fortune for the year ahead.

PE

Each week all students (each class) participates in one PE session.

During week 2, (first week of PE), students were introduced to the expected behaviours and expectations when participating in PE classes. We played a number of minor games to introduce the expectations which has a key focus on listening to the whistle and instructions and waiting for the magic PE word ‘Go’ before they start following the instructions.

Next week, the 3-6s will have a lesson provided to them by members form Southern United Hockey Centre (Kingston Reserve). They are here to promote the sport of hockey, as well as promote their club. They have a come and try day at the club coming up. More details will be out in the next newsletter, or you can check out their website.

Well done everyone on making such a great and positive start to the new year, I’m looking forward to working with everyone throughout the year.
