Term 1 Week 2 2024 -  Friday 7th February

What have we been up to? 

The Year 1 teaching team is delighted to welcome back all our students and parents in 2025! The new school year is off to a fantastic start, and we couldn’t be prouder of how well the students have settled in. We are looking forward to all the exciting learning and experiences Term 1 will bring!

It has been lovely hearing about everyone’s holidays and seeing so many bright, happy faces back in the classroom.

The students kicked off the year by diving into Leader In Me activities and setting up their classrooms for an amazing year ahead! Each class has proudly created their Personal and Academic W.I.G. (Wildly Important Goal) for Term 1, collaborated on a classroom W.I.G., and worked together to craft their Personal and Class Mission Statements. Alongside these important activities, they have been settling back into the school routine with enthusiasm.

Week 2 marked the start of learning across all areas, and the students jumped straight into Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. 

This week, students also participated in all their specialist classes and were especially excited for their very first AUSLAN lesson with our new AUSLAN teacher, Ms Buchan!

What is coming up?

Reading  + Writing 

The students will continue with Write 2 Learn and are focusing on using conjunctions to join two sentences together. For Novel studies students are starting their author study on Nick Bland. 

Maths 

To kick off our number and algebra exploration, students will be focusing on counting and ‘trusting the count’. Students will engage in a range of activities that strengthen their counting skills and number recognition. 

Inquiry & Science

Students will begin

• Please don’t forget to bring in your hats and water bottles as we have had and will be having more hot days. 

• If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child's classroom teacher through Compass or via the school email and it will be passed on to them.

• Monday- AUSLAN, PE, Art/Cultural Studies & Music 

Wednesday- Art/Cultural Studies & Health (with classroom teacher)
