Library News

Congratulations to the students who completed the 2024 Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC). This year, thirteen students completed the Challenge. It was one of our highest completion rates over the past ten years. One of our candidates, Janella N received the PRC medal. The PRC Medal is awarded to Year 9 and 10 students to recognise 7 years of independent reading. Year 9 students are eligible for a medal after completing the Challenge every year from Year 3 - Year 9 inclusive.
Janella started the Challenge in K-2 and will receive the medal this year. Janella stated that “The PRC encourages students to read and explore different genres.” She also remarked that “apart from gaining a sense of achievement when they complete the Challenge, students could very well find a new author or series to read. They may even read their next favourite book.” Janella’s determination and perseverance has led to her successfully completing the Challenge over the past seven years. Janella needs to be commended for this amazing achievement.
Next year if our students complete the challenge over consecutive years, they may be eventually eligible for a Gold or Platinum Certificate. Below is a list of the different PRC awards on offer.
Apart from purchasing LEGO kits on a regular basis, we are continually purchasing fiction titles for our new book display. We purchase fiction titles to augment our collection of Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) titles.
Finally, staff and students may borrow books to read over the holiday period. We also have access to a collection of eBooks and audiobooks on the SORA app. Please look at the details below about SORA.
Library staff wish you all a safe and happy holiday period!
