MADDness

Thursday of Week 8 was the biannual Music, Art, Dance and Drama night – MADDness! Students had the opportunity to display the creative skills they learned in their Language, Creative and Performing Arts subjects from throughout the year. This event was hosted by the always wonderful Olivia M and Megan L, who brought warmth and zest to the evening’s events.

The artworks showed an incredible display of colour and texture, skilfully manipulated to create beautiful sculptures, sketches and paintings in a range of different styles. The audience were able to vote for their favourite pieces, with Zoe T winning People’s Choice award and Tayla W coming away with Principal’s Choice for 2024.

The music students’ talents shone through with a set list that was topped and tailed by songs by Mrs Dent’s favourite band – The Foo Fighters! They rocked, rolled, and sang their little heart’s out, on instruments that some of them have only begun learning to play this year. The Vox and Unwritten vocal groups sang beautifully, and the solo acts created a lovely vibe throughout Moylan Hall, proving that just one person can move an audience to tears with their gifts.

The Language presentations introduced the audience to their incredible trip to Japan with a slideshow and speech; what an awe-inspiring experience they had! MC Megan taught the audience how to sing head, shoulders, knees and toes – in German! Wunderbar!

The Drama kids showed off their clowning skills with Tyler, Owen and Will performing a bus stop routine which ended with Owen being taken away inside a suitcase; with Gypsy and Bridie showed the audience a tense Realism duologue between two sisters, and Lula performed her monologue ‘One Last Moment’ about a woman in her last days of life.

The Dancers performed a beautiful lyrical piece which they have been working on throughout Term 4, while Quinell and Michelle both showcased self-choreographed solo pieces, showing skill, subtlety, and motivation for the Arts!

The evening finished with a slideshow video of CAPA throughout the year.

What a whirlwind!

Thank you, everyone, for your ongoing support and dedication to L’CAPA in 2024. We couldn’t do it without you.
