Congratulations to all the amazingly creative students of Jells Park Primary School for completing a year of artistic learning including clay and other 3D mediums, painting, printmaking, collage, drawing, collaborative work, discussing the art of well-known artists, making connections between artists and themselves and participating in discussions about how to display their artwork for the Art Show. 

Foundation

Foundation students have continued looking at the beauty of birds this term and have recently finished their flamingo artwork. 

While investigating flamingos we discovered that their knees bend backwards, they can move their long necks in many ways and why they are pink (it has to do with something they eat). Did you know that baby flamingos are grey? Students started by making ‘water patterns’ with paint sticks then painted over the patterns with watercolour paints. They practised mixing colours while painting paper to make the flamingos body and diligently worked to fit together a ‘flamingo neck jigsaw’.

Level Two

Level Two Students have recently completed this artwork of a peacock. Many techniques were covered in this piece including blending paint to create an ombre, colour mixing, collage, using stencils, drawing fine details, cutting skills, embellishing, framing the artwork for presentation and discussions on why particular techniques or colour choices were effective.

Level Four

Level Four students have been exploring the Pop Art Movement, and the meaning behind why Pop Artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Keith Haring used easily accessible materials like food labels and comic books (hint: it was to make art easily accessible too!) 

In this artwork Level Four students engaged with some new techniques including printmaking with bubble wrap (to get that printed comic book feel) and colouring paper with sprayed ink. Students also focused on composition before gluing everything together into a finished artwork.
