DUBE Scholarship

Congratulations to Evelyn P and Xavier W from Level 5 on being awarded the DUBE Scholarship for 2024.

This is the only annual student award we have at Jells Park PS and it is supported by a grant from the Dube Family, a past family of the school.

The intent with this scholarship is that it goes to a quality student that has shown all-around excellence - good academically, is fair and shows great sportsmanship, always gives everything a red-hot go and tries their best, models the school values, is friendly, helpful and pleasant in the classroom, works hard, never complains, is reliable and supportive.

Evelyn and Xavier are very worthy winner - congratulations.

Concert..... and Gratitude.

What an amazing concert we have had this year. It seemed to me to be an event thoroughly enjoyed by everyone - laughs, smiles, excitement from students, teachers and parents. A massive thanks to everyone that supported this event and to all the staff that made it happen - it is events like this that makes our school so special.

And following on from my theme from the night, which was also echoed by the Level 6 act, we have a lot for which to be thankful and grateful. It is nights like these that that should make us all pause and say 'how lucky are we?'

Working Bee

Thanks also to the small band of parents and students that turned up for the Working Bee a few weeks ago. This group of hardy warriors battled the humidity and cracked into a mountain of jobs. While we won't ever beat the summer growth, at least the school doesn't look like a jungle right now.

Chris Turner - School Council President

I would like to personally and publically thank Chris Turner, our outgoing School Council President, for his work and support over 10 years on council and 5 years as President. Chris' youngest is finishing Level 6 this year so time has come to move on.

Over the years there have been a few challenging issues, mainly managing COVID in the school, and some tough decisions made. Chris has always provided a balanced and considered responses while maintaining a level of humour at all our meetings.

Chris, I really appreciate your support of me and your massive contribution to the school.

Thank you.

2025 Parent Contributions

Just a reminder that Parent Contribution for 2025 are being accepted. We understand that it is the lead in to Christmas and that things are little tougher now, but please consider if you can make some or all of the school contributions.  These resources are used to provide the extended curriculum here at Jells Park PS and we greatly appreciate your support.

Are you Leaving??

At this time of the year there are always some families that are looking at alternative schooling, working and living arrangements. For whatever reason, if you are leaving the school please let us know ASAP. We always have high interest from people wanting to enrol in our school, so the sooner we know of any departures the sooner we can offer spots for 2025.

Happy Holidays

Finally, wishing everyone at Jells Park PS a wonderful break and happy holidays. This is a great time to relax and enjoy time with family and friends.

I look forward to seeing you all back in 2025.

Merry Christmas to all.

Kevin Oakey

Principal

Student Reports

Student reports will be published on Sentral on Tuesday 17th December. On this day the Continuum Tracker will also be live for parents to view. Please take some time to read your child’s report and discuss and celebrate their achievements together. As always if you have any concerns regarding your child’s report please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

End of year Reflection

It may be cliché, but it’s certainly true enough for many, this year has flown by (yet again!)  This cliché becomes particularly significant and somewhat sombre when you hear children saying this. It’s a reminder that while the days can be long, the weeks are short and the importance of making the most of every minute rings true. I wish all our families a peaceful and relaxing summer break and hope you get the opportunity to spend some quality time with friends and family doing things you love.

Have a wonderful weekend!
