Principal's Report
As we approach the end of another wonderful year at St Mary’s, we reflect on the growth, achievements, and memorable moments that have defined 2024. It has been a year of exciting developments, from the opening of the Nano Nagle Centre to the return of our Trivia Night, and a strong focus on academic achievements, community engagement and wellbeing. We are so proud of all that our students have accomplished!
As Christmas approaches, we look forward to celebrating the season together with our school community. The end of year will be marked by a special Graduation Evening for our Class of 2024, where we will honour their hard work, resilience, and achievements. It will be a night to remember, full of joy and celebration.
The evening will be followed by a Christmas Nativity Play. Our students have been working hard to bring this beautiful story to life, and we can’t wait to share it with our families and friends. It’s a perfect way to wrap up a year full of growth and embrace the festive spirit.
Staffing Updates
While it is always difficult to see a valued team member move on, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the dedication and care shown by Mrs Adele George during her time as a Learning Support Officer at St. Mary’s School. Mrs G's contributed and made positive contributions to the learning and well-being of our students, and many have benefited from her support.
Adele has accepted a part-time teaching position at Wedderburn College, where she is looking forward to running the Language program along with the benefits of working in the same school her children attend. As we near the end of the year, we look forward to celebrating Mrs G's achievements with the school community.
It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Miss Ruby McLean as Learner Support Officer at St Mary’s beginning at the start of the 2025 school year. Ruby worked casually in the classrooms during 2024 and is currently studying for her Bachelor of Education degree. I’m sure you’ll join me in welcoming Ruby back to St Mary’s, who is very excited about the position and working alongside the students.
Looking ahead to 2025, there is already a buzz amongst staff as they have been participating in professional development opportunities to ensure we continue providing the best teaching and learning practices. We will be employing a Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader, launching our new Engine Room and heading back to Maryborough for
Energy Breakthrough!
To conclude, on behalf of all of the staff, we wish all our students and families a joyful and restful Christmas holiday. Thank you for your continued support throughout the year—we look forward to seeing you in the new year, ready for even more exciting experiences and achievements!
