Important Update for all Parent/Grandparent Volunteers & Contractors

New Visitor Management System for School        Sign-Ins

We are excited to announce the implementation of a new Visitor Management System designed to streamline and enhance the safety and efficiency of signing in at our schools. This system will change the way parents and visitors sign in, ensuring a smoother and more secure process.

Important Steps for All Parents:

Token for Onboarding Process: If you have previously provided the school with your Working With Children’s Check number you will receive an email with your token via email shortly. If you would like to start volunteering, please click on the link provided below to complete the new on boarding process.

Clearance for Volunteering: Once you have completed the onboarding process, you will receive clearance from the Child Protection team from the Catholic Education Office, allowing you to volunteer in our schools.

Quick Sign-In App: To make the sign-in process even simpler, we have introduced a quick sign-in app available for download from both the App Store and Google Play Store. This app will allow you to sign in quickly and efficiently whenever you visit the school.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we transition to this new system. Our goal is to ensure the safety and security of all students, staff, and visitors. Should you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the school office

School Student Travel - Year 3 2025

Students in the Opal network applying for an Opal card (including a Term Bus Pass) for the first time will receive their School Opal card at their nominated postal address from mid-January 2025. Students progressing from year 2 to year 3 and from year 6 to year 7 do not need to re-apply if they:

  • are continuing at the same school, and

  • are residing at the same address, and

  • have not been sent an expiry notification from Transport for NSW.

Where a student meets the new distance eligibility, the system will automatically update their entitlement. If they do not meet the new eligibility, they will receive an expiry notification.  Students who change address, school, campus location, have repeated a year or received an expiry notification for their school travel entitlement need to renew or update their details before the end of Term 4. This will ensure that schools can endorse applications, so their travel entitlement can remain valid for the start of the 2025 school year.Students who have an entitlement approved under a medical condition that is due to expire will receive a notification advising them to re-apply.

Sports

2025 Swimming Selection Trials

The St Joseph's swimming trials will be held on MONDAY 10 FEBRUARY 2025 at Corrimal Pool. Due to the half-day allocation set by Wollongong Council, we must complete all races in the 8:45 am - 12 pm allocation. For this reason, the swimming trial is for swimmers Yrs 3-6 who can swim 50m (or more) without stopping or touching the bottom of the pool and any Y2 students turning 8yrs in 2025 who can swim 50m without stopping. The school holidays are a wonderful opportunity for students to practice in preparation for next year!

More information regarding this event will be provided via Compass early in the new year. We will once again request the support of our wonderful parent helpers, so please save the date if you can volunteer your time.

Thank you & Best Wishes

We want to take this opportunity to thank all parents who have supported students and staff with sporting contributions at carnivals, gala days or pathway trials throughout the year.

We have had another hugely successful year of representation and participation in many events or sports incursions. We look forward to another great year of sport in 2025 and the sense of community at SJB sporting events.
