We are thrilled to have these new staff members joining our team and can't wait to get to know them all and welcome them into the CPS family. For those who have been at CPS a little longer, we know that you will take the time to get to know your colleagues and will be there to answer questions and provide collegial support as you always do, so thank you in advance for your support of these new colleagues.
In the coming week or so all staff will be given access to add/edit the briefing notes. Simeon will post a short video explaining how to do so in an upcoming briefing notes.
French only teachers; English teachers with a bilingual mindset
As a bilingual school, we are evolving to be able to provide non native students with the skills to articulate their thinking in French. Quite remarkable in such a monolingual educational landscape! Yet we have taken the risk to move from 50:50 to introducing 80:20 in our Early Years and now it is the norm!
It was introduced for a purpose; now we have to ensure that our students' increased ability to communicate in French in class, is captured and continues to be enhanced!
This is a priority!
Engagement in learning will enhance wellbeing as well as academic outcomes
Valuing our Specialists
We are fortunate to have four specialist subjects which provide a wider range of opportunities for our students to shine. Students look forward to the specialist showcase weeks that occur throughout the year to celebrate learning in their curriculum area.
And our Specialist teachers continue to innovate as with the games sessions before school, the spectacular production and the Art/Science project that occured in term 4.
Empowering students as learners
We continue our journey to empower students so that they know the purpose, they know the steps involved in learning a new skill or concept and they know what is next.
Ensure your students can answer these questions:
- What are you learning?
- Why are you learning this?
- How will you know that you have learnt ...?
- What is the next step on your learning journey?
