All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

St Louis de Montfort

On Tuesday 28th April, our school celebrated the feast of our patron saint, St Louis de Montfort. Louis de Montfort was a French priest born in 1673 who devoted his life to preaching the Gospel and deepening people’s love for Jesus through Mary. He travelled widely through France, especially among the poor, teaching with great passion and simplicity. Despite facing opposition and misunderstanding, he remained faithful to his mission and trusted completely in God.

One of his most important contributions to the Catholic Church was his teaching on total devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. In his well-known book, True Devotion to Mary, he explained that Mary always leads us closer to her Son, Jesus. His spirituality emphasised humility, trust, and complete surrender to God’s will.

St Louis de Montfort showed many important qualities that we try to emulate . He lived a life of deep prayer, strong faith, and great love for the poor and those in need. He was courageous in sharing the truth, even when it was difficult. He also encouraged others to grow in holiness through devotion, service, and trust in God.

He died in 1716 and was later canonised.  We remember him as a saint who inspires us to follow Jesus more closely through Mary. He lived his life to show God’s love to all people and encourages us today and each day to do the same.

First Eucharist

On Thursday our Yr 4 students participated in a Eucharist Reflection Day starting off with attending Mass followed by numerous activities deepening their understanding of the Eucharist. A pizza lunch was also enjoyed as a special treat.

In the evening, families were invited to our First Eucharist Faith Night. Our presenter was Michael McGirr who now works at Caritas after spending many year teaching at St Kevin's and leading Mission and Identity there. He was a very engaging speaker who proclaimed that the most important aspect of 'receiving'  Jesus in the Eucharist is actually going out and 'giving' of yourself, especially to those in need. He was very impressed with our school and our students, especially those who went above and beyond, to raise money for Caritas.

I'm feeling pretty confident that our amazing Yr 4 students internalized what he had to say and with the strength that the Eucharist will provide them, they will follow Jesus' example to be active members of our community reaching out to those in need.

Thank you to those parents who attended and are supporting their child's faith journey.
