MOUNT ERIN BOARDING SCHOOL (MEBS) founded in 1890

From the Mount Erin Heritage Centre (MEHC)

Every now and again, we thought we would include something from the Heritage Centre to show you what Mount Erin and MEBS looked like in the past and how things have changed over time.

The first picture is an aerial photo of Mount Erin back in the 1960’s. You can see the Boarding House to the left at the bottom of the photograph, the convent, and the Chapel on the right – things definitely are a lot different today. Notice the spire in the photo and the lithograph above - it was destroyed by a lightning strike in the 1990's.

The next two photos show the Boarder’s Tennis Group from the early 1900’s and a somewhat “staged” pic of boarders in the 1990’s when MEBS was for girls only.

Imagine having to play a sport in those long skirts!
