Secondary Science

In Year 12 Biology, students complete a student-designed scientific investigation as part of their studies. This project gives them the opportunity to explore real-world biological questions related to cellular processes and how living systems respond to challenges.

Drawing on the knowledge and practical skills developed throughout Units 3 and 4, students design and carry out their own investigations in the laboratory or field. They begin by developing a research question, forming a hypothesis, and planning a safe and ethical method to test their ideas. Students then collect and analyse their own data, evaluate the reliability of their methods, and connect their findings to established scientific concepts.

Throughout the process, students document their work in a detailed logbook and present their results in a scientific poster, building valuable skills in scientific communication.
