2026 German Exchange Program

German Exchange Information Evening

We are pleased to inform you that it is time to commence planning for our annual exchange with our sister school, the Integrierte Gesamtschule (IGS) Kaufungen, near the city of Kassel in Hesse, Germany! This program is shared jointly by Mullauna & Vermont Secondary Colleges, running annually since 1996.

At our upcoming information evening, we will be seeking intentions-to-participate from MSC or VSC families of Year 9 students of German for our exchange program, to participate in the full program, including hosting a German exchange student and then traveling to Germany to be hosted by the same student. Depending on student numbers, there may be the opportunity for Year 10 students to participate, or for families to simply host a German exchange student. 

The full program involves a direct exchange (reciprocal hosting) with students from the Integrierte Gesamtschule (IGS = comprehensive school) Kaufungen. The German student stays with your family for about three weeks in October/November 2026 (early Term 4), and the Australian student returns to Kaufungen, Germany in March/April 2027 (the Term 1 holidays plus one week either side), to experience Easter and a European spring. 

The information evening will be held at Mullauna SC in the Performing Arts Centre (PAC) at 6.00pm on Wednesday 20 May 2026, with access via the Springfield Road carpark. Please register your intention to attend by emailing Mullauna.sc@education.vic.gov.au
