Leadership

Welcome back to Term 2! It has been so wonderful to walk around the school, visit classes and watch students laughing and playing with their friends. Across the whole school, there is a sense of calm and purposefulness as everyone settles into another exciting term of learning here at TPS.
I’d like to make special mention of our Preppies, who are already looking a little older and wiser as they go about their day here at school with us. How far you’ve already come since the beginning of the last term.
WALK FOR TRUTH
On Monday, 20th April, 4/5A, 5/6A, 5/6B, and 5/6S and their teachers had the privilege of attending the second day of the National Walk for Truth. The morning provided a valuable opportunity for students to either celebrate their own First Nations culture, or stand proud as strong allies to First Nations people. The students walked alongside other Darebin schools and community members in a powerful demonstration of respect, unity and shared commitment to learning from the past.
Following the walk, Travis and Renata continued their journey as part of the broader National Walk for Truth, travelling towards Parliament House in Canberra. Their journey aims to promote community participation, reconciliation and shared respect, while amplifying First Nations voices and leadership in the truth-telling process.
We are always proud of the respectful and thoughtful way that our students engage with First Nations events and the students who attended absolutely rose to the occasion. Opportunities such as this are an important part of building understanding, empathy and a strong sense of social responsibility within our school community.
STEM FESTIVAL
It was such a joy to welcome everyone back for our annual STEM FESTIVAL on Tuesday, 28 April. Josh Vella (our Award winning STEM teacher) did an amazing job to showcase the incredible work of all students across the school. Our dedicated teachers gave up their time to ensure each station was fun, interactive and ran smoothly. We actually forgot to take pictures because everyone was so busy toiling away until the end of the night!
Special appreciation must go to our STEM Ambassadors Leo Coup, Thorin Mellor, Zaiden Raban and Theo Ferguson, who did a massive job helping with the set up for the whole evening as well as running activities on the night.
Finally, thank you to the many, many families who attended. Our students were so proud to share their work with you.
