Sheffie Awards winners
It has been wonderful to see so many children receiving Sheffie Awards, especially in recent weeks. At Billanook, any staff member can nominate a student for a Sheffie Award when they demonstrate our school values.
All nominations are placed into the barrel at the beginning of assembly, where five names are drawn to receive a special reward and recognition for their positive attitude towards school. Importantly, every nomination stays in the barrel until the end of the term, giving students multiple chances to be recognised. It’s also great to hear that some students are earning more than five nominations each term—a reflection of their consistently excellent attitude and behaviour.
Art Show – 15 October 5:30pm – 7:30pm
We will be holding our inaugural Billanook Art Show on Wednesday 15 October from 5:30pm – 7:30pm. All families will be invited to attend the Art Show. It will be held in the new building.
We are working out a route of travel to ensure we keep the traffic moving. All children from across the school will have multiple items on display. This also happens to be at the same time as our Book Fair. We’ll have the Book Fair open on the night for families to wander through and purchase high quality literature for their children.
Year 3 Camp
Our Year 3 camp was held at Candlebark Farm Camp in Healesville. The year 3’s had an awesome time on their first camp. Some of the highlights included going upside down on the flying fox, firing the arrows at the targets in archery, eating breakfast, lunch and dinner together and sleeping in the cabin with their friends.
Well done year 3’s. The first camp is usually the trickiest as for some children it is the first time they’ve slept away from their families.
Thank you for a fantastic first term. Please have a really safe and enjoyable break and we look forward to seeing everyone back onsite for Term 4 on Monday 6 October.
Regards,
Michael Puddy
