Principal's message

Welcome back to Term 4.
We hope you had an enjoyable holiday break, and the students are feeling well rested and ready for their new term of learning. Term 4 always brings a sense of excitement and anticipation as we reflect on the growth and achievements, we have made this year whilst also looking forward to the next school year with anticipation for what it will bring.
Term 4 is a busy term with various school events, we remind parents to access the school calendar on the St Bernard's Primary School's Parent Access Module or PAM account via the SIMON Everywhere App to stay up to date with our school events.
Our Year 5 students have their camp to Harrietville this week.
We wish all our Year 5 students and staff attending a safe and enjoyable time and look forward to hearing all about it when they return.
This Friday we have over 30 students from Years 4, 5 and 6 representing our school at the Divisional Athletics Day. We wish them all the best with their event/s.
Art & Photography Show
Our major school fundraising event in Term 4 is the St Bernard's Art & Photography Show. Our art show is a wonderful opportunity to support our school by coming along to our opening night with your family and friends to enjoy the artwork, socialise with friends and maybe even purchase one of the beautiful artworks on sale.
Opening Night is Friday 7th November (7.00pm - 10.00pm), with the Art & Photogrpahy Show remaining open on the weekend 8 & 9 November (10.00am - 3.00pm), $5 entry fee.

School Hats
It's that time of the year again, the sun is shining brighter, and our students are required to wear their hats for outside play and sport.
Please ensure your child has their hat to wear at school every day.
Hats can be purchased from Steers.Co or Worklocker Wangaratta.
If children forget their hat, then they are to play under the covered area in front of our Art Room. Please label hats clearly!
Pupil Free Day- Report Writing Day
Friday 14th November will be a Pupil Free Day, staff will use this day to finalise assessments and work on your child's end of year report. These reports will be shared with you via PAM on the Simon Everywhere app at the end of term.
Carpark and Drop Off Protocols - Reminder
We encourage parents to drop off or pick up their children at the internal drop off / pick up zone near the hall or the drop off / pick up point at the front of the school. There are teachers on duty at both zones to supervise the pickup of students.
The carpark is entered from Skehan Ave.
Cars travel at 5kms an hour and either -
1. Drive into the car park, where parents park their car then walk to the crossing point with their child and cross at the crossing point.
At no time should children cross into the carpark, except at the designated crossing point with their parents. A teacher will be on duty at this crossing point.
Or
2. Choose to drive into the drop off zone where children will get out of their parent’s car on the left side of the car and walk up onto the footpath and into school.
Parents will then continue to drive out of the school by entering back onto the driveway out of the school.
The exit gate is automated to open.
At pick up time, a teacher will be at the drop off bay to direct children to their parent’s cars. The children will wait under the verandah of the hall and be directed by the teacher on duty to their parent’s car at the drop off point.
Parents do not leave their cars in the drop off zone.
If you have grandparents etc supporting you with the drop off please familiarise them with the protocols for using the drop off zone.
It is important that students are waiting for pick up at the end of the day in either the hall drop off zone or the pickup zone at the front of the office.
Students are not to be playing on the playground equipment unless their parent is with them.
Have a great week,
Kate Bevan.
