What's Your Faith Story?

Relationships are interesting aren’t they! There’s the ‘Getting to know you stage’, the ‘Can I really trust you?’ stage... and then the ways the relationship develops over time... 

How about our relationship with God? He is always there... desiring to connect with us, wanting us to walk life’s journey with him, loved and secure... But what does that actually look like in someone’s life? 

Let’s hear from one of our Past Students, Laila, as she shares some of her Faith Story:

How did you first hear about God?

I was brought up with wonderful Christian parents and so God was always a valuable part of my life. I heard about him through ‘Kid’s Ministry’ at church. I remember mum reading me a Kid’s bible when I was very little, explaining Creation and what Jesus did for us.

Can you describe a time when it was hard to trust God?

Life is full of trials and storms... Our church split! My plans, for the way I thought things should be, were disrupted and that scared me. Everything went ‘wrong’. 

How are you finding that situation now?

It took work to forgive and give God my trust and allow him control over my life. His plans are best for my life. I can rest in him.

Is there a particular bible verse that is important to you?

Romans 8:28 ‘And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.’ NIV This verse helps me to trust God. It made me realise that even if I feel different feelings about the things I face, He has control over everything. He will never let me down.

What is your current relationship with God like? 

Noone has it perfect... we are all sinners and need God. I can’t do life without God. I pray and read the bible. I want to live life with him!

Describe Jesus using 3 different words. 

Worthy.... Loving.... Safe....

Is there a worship song that means a lot to you?

I like ‘You make me brave’ which I remember from my time at Good Shepherd. It related to me then and it still relates to me now.
