Level 3 & 4

Week 8, Term 3

Production

We are so proud of all our students for their hard work, energy and enthusiasm throughout the production process - especially during the dress rehearsal and performances. They represented themselves and our community so well, taking the opportunity to perform in such a fantastic show seriously, coping with tricky logistics, and performing beautifully.

A huge thank you goes to the parents who were part of the costume and prop teams. You dedicated many hours to sourcing items, scouring Facebook Marketplace and op shops, and creating the many pieces that brought the show to life. Your hard work and support meant our students stepped onto an incredibly dressed stage, looking fantastic and ready to share their performance skills with the community.

We are truly grateful for your creativity, resourcefulness and care, which have given our students not only a polished production but also many precious memories of Matilda Junior.

CBL

Students will be exploring what schooling was like in the 1980’s and putting together a timeline about how educational technology has changed. Ask them to share which item was most interesting to them.

Wellbeing

We are exploring ‘Problem Solving in Peer Situations’ in Respectful Relationships and ‘Peer Pressure’ in Cyber Safety. We will be discussing interacting with peers in a safe and respectful way especially playing games outside and navigating social situations with kindness.

Reading

We are focusing on retell as we read Kensuke’s Kingdom and exploring the rich descriptive vocabulary. We are deepening our understanding of the text by researching Orangutans and creating a fact file about them including their features, habitats and threats to their populations. Please encourage them to discuss what they have learnt about Orangutans at home.

Writing

Students are continuing work on adding detail to their own adventure stories and will be focusing on enriching their vocabulary and writing with consideration of their audience. Ask them to share their favourite part of their story with you.

Maths

We will be exploring fractions focusing on recognising and representing halves, thirds, quarters, fifths and tenths and then moving to creating a whole from two fractions. You could ask your child to teach you one of our fractions counting games!
