A Big Thank You Scotsburn!!!
We have made it to the end of another term! Who can believe how fast this year is flying by, with another very busy term now behind us.
From the Scotsburn staff we want to say a massive thank you to each and every one of our wonderful students, for making each day a joy to be at school. A huge thank you also to our parent community, who continue to provide us with unwavering support and assistance. Scotsburn is a very special community, relying on a team approach, consistently working in a united direction to achieve the successes that we do. THANK YOU!!!
We hope that everyone can enjoy a safe and happy break, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the commencement of Term 4!
Celebration of Learning - TOMORROW NIGHT!
Tomorrow, Wednesday 17th September, Scotsburn will host our Term 3 Celebration of Learning. This will take place at the Scotsburn Campus, between 5pm and 7pm. The purpose of this evening is to provide students with the opportunity to reflect on their goals and learning, celebrating their amazing learning achievements with their parents and carers. It also provides a wonderful opportunity for our parents and carers to get a first hand insight into what their child is getting up to in all areas of their schooling.
Over the night, students and parents will be able to walk in and out of all learning spaces, which will be showcasing lots of different learning that has taken place this term/year. There will also be the opportunity for parents, guardians and students to participate in some interactive activities.
The campus will be running a BBQ on the night, $3 per sausage. Make sure to bring some coins and come and grab a snag or two!
We would love all families and students to attend - we can’t wait to see you there!
Victorian State School Spectacular
A massive congratulations to Oisin and Mrs Morgan for their involvement in the State School Spectacular over the weekend. Saturday was a culmination of almost six months of practice and organisation, coming together for two huge performances at John Cain Arena in Melbourne. If you have never had the opportunity to witness the VSSS in person, it certainly blows you away!
All the students from Buninyong Primary School who participated in the VSSS represented themselves and the school extremely well. I am sure there were some tired students and families on Sunday!
Amity at Division Athletics
Congratulations to Amity who participated last Thursday in the Division Athletics at Llanberris Reserve. Amity competed in high jump and hurdles, placing 3rd in both events. An amazing effort Amity - we are all proud of you!
Home Reading
A huge thank you to all our families that have continued to support their child with reading at home. We will be celebrating and acknowledging some students at this Thursday’s Scotsburn assembly, who have achieved a high number of home reading nights this term.
Japanese Superstar Alert!
This week, one of our students has reached an AMAZING milestone. Please congratulate Darragh M, who has reached his 365 day streak on Duolingo! This means that Darragh has faithfully practised some Japanese every single day for a whole year. We are so impressed and proud of Darragh for this amazing achievement. It is great to see the benefits during his Japanese lessons, particularly in terms of his Hiragana reading.
If you are interested in furthering your Japanese knowledge at home, or even beginning another language in preparation for a holiday or for High School, Duolingo is a really supportive and well planned out method, and the free version of the app is more than adequate to use. To begin, it can survey you on your existing knowledge of a language and then adapt the course to suit your needs. It makes learning fun, and just 10 mins a day can make a big difference. I recommend turning off the Romaji option though, so that students are only reading in Hiragana and not relying on English spelling of Japanese words. It's a bit harder at the start, but gives very quick reading results! Let me know if you have any questions, or need any help to get started. 🙂
Congratulations Darragh - your dedication is very inspiring!
Scotsburn Assembly - Thursday 18th September
This Thursday we will hold our end of term Scotsburn assembly, 3pm in the shed. It will be a big celebration of the term that has been and we would love to see you there!
Whole School Assembly - Friday 19th September
This Friday we have our final whole school assembly for the term, starting the day at the Buninyong Campus. As is our usual routine, we will meet in the courtyard at 8:45am. If your child has any books to return to the library, please send them along as well.
After assembly at Buninyong we will bus directly to the pool, then back to Scotsburn, for a 2:30pm finish.
Footy Colours Day - Friday 19th September
PROUDLY SUPPORTING
On Friday, students are also invited to come dressed in their favourite team colours. Usually students are asked to bring a gold coin donation on casual dress days to support a good cause.
On footy/sports colours day, we encourage students to collect as many 5c coins as they can, as 5c coins have become synonymous with Mphatso. This is how much it costs to provide a bowl of porridge to a student each day at school. For many of the children, this is the only food they will have for the day.
Scotsburn Swimming
Yesterday we made a great start to our swimming program, with all students doing a wonderful job in their lessons. We look forward to more enjoyable days in the pool throughout this week. Please remember to pack bathers, goggles, towel and a spare bag for wet clothes each day this week.
Scotsburn Parent Opinion Survey - LAST CALL
A final reminder to all families to complete this year’s parent opinion survey. The survey, offered by the Department of Education, is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement.
Your opinions as Scotsburn parents are so important to us and we value every bit of feedback that we can receive. Our parent community is such a valued and important aspect of the Scotsburn campus and we truly do cherish our partnership. Using this valued feedback on one way that as a campus we can continue to develop and improve, ensuring that we are providing the best possible education experience for each and every one of our students.
The survey should only take approximately 20 minutes and we would appreciate it so much if we could get all families to complete. The survey will be open until Friday 19 September.
To complete the survey, simply:
Click on the link below, or copy and paste the text into your browser. This link will take you directly to the survey.

The pin code was sent out on Compass last week.
If you are having any trouble completing the survey, please see Jarrod for assistance. Thanks in advance everyone!
Holiday animal care
It is that time of the term again where we are putting out the offer for anyone that would be interested and has the time to assist with Pip and our chickens over the holidays. Pip the bluetongue lizard would love a holiday at someone’s house, and she is extremely low maintenance! Our chickens will stay onsite, however just need a check for eggs, water and food every few days.
If your family is interested and willing to help with Pip, please come and see Jarrod in the next few days to make arrangements.
Below is a sign up sheet for any families who can pop in to check on food and water for the chickens. The food is kept in the door on the right hand side of the coop. Thanks in advance!

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
